What type truck is everyone useing to pull their boats with ?

2011 F250 with 6.7L diesel pulling a 27pc. I pulled it from Indiana to Miami last summer and it pulled great. Ran 65mph and averaged 9.5 mpg. only complaint is the fuel tank is 26 gallons.

Magic, I passed that place I'll make my way there to check it out. We are staying and getting married at South Seas Resort so we will probably have golf cart races to it one day haha.

Thanks aquaforce, we figured with all the craziness going on in the world today why not just island hop and stay somewhere just as nice as some islands. Cabbage Key ismy favorite spot to get away so I will be stopping by there a bit nd im sure family and friends that come to the wedding will be asking for rides so I fig why not bump up the HP in the 26 and do it in good time.

Save room for dessert. Go with the red velvet. You can thank me later. :). We used to take the sea ray down to the south seas often from Tampa. We'd dock at the marina and never missed the bubble room. Haven't been there in years though.

Ok this post will reset the 120 day old warning. LOL ;D ;D ;D

I changed out the grille. Nice before and after shots. ;D

After the grille was in the factory Bowtie just didn't look right for the style of it. I found this Billet Bowtie but it didn't match the curve of the grille. I used some soft cloth and metal pieces in my press to get the emblem shaped right to fit the grille and voilla or whatever.

I like the larger look. Most people say the truck looks mean. I was just going with a big "truck" look using the vertical bars and I wanted the whole front end bright. ;D

I'm still planning to open up the two slots in the front bumper and make them one bigger one like in the new 3500.

Dressed Up My Denali

I just got mine back from Line-X of Brighton, in Brighton Michigan.

-Rocker panels done in a custom mix to match the greige trim on the boat with a thin black accent on the very bottom.
-Encore Tonne by Extang
-Anzo LED lightbar on top edge of tailgate
-Chrome bug deflector

You can see in the second and third pic that they took off the black wheel opening molding and sprayed the greige under it so a thin accent stripe of greige shows between the white body and the black molding.

They wanted it for a week and a half to do the work, so I went to the islands and did this...

I'm jerking a 260SS around with a 2008 Expedition with the heavy duty tow package. It can pull 9,200 pounds but supposed to run with a weight distribution hitch if pulling anything over 6,000 pounds. My boat full of fuel and water on aluminum trailer is probably 7,500 pounds. It pulls ok but I wish I'd bought a beater diesel pickup and spent the Expedition money on a fast car (or a faster boat).

I'm getting the trailer set up properly this week - having the guy move the bunks, add bunks, convert to electric over hydraulic brakes and put a weigh distribution hitch on. It should be a lot better than it is now.......still wish I'd gotten a diesel pick up to pull this boat.

The guy that hauls my boat uses a gray truck . . .

dmfracer,

Doesn't look too bad, but moving the weight will be nice. I towed a 6,000 lb boat with an Astro van, so you should be in good shape! We considered getting an older diesel too. Ended up with the above truck since we'll have it for ever and want to get a travel trailer of fifth wheel in a few years.

tpenfield,

Much cheaper that way! Write the guy a check a few times a year and you're done with it!

kai330, the Expedition does ok. It's all flat land towing down here along the Gulf. The trailer will go to the trailer shop on Tuesday to get set up properly. The previous owner never used the trailer as the boat was kept in a lift. Now that I plan to trailer it to various boating locations in the Gulf and Mid-West (Lake of the Ozarks, Michigan) I need to get it setup.

Towing 2000 312 FasTech with '09 GMC Denali with 6.2L Vortec. 405 HP & 425 lbs. torque. Does a great job. Suspension is stiff and Bird is balanced perfect on tri-axle Heritage trailer.

Denali & 312

Welcome to the site and i must say nice rig!!! I own a 2010 Sierra Denali. I tow my 26PC but had my Dad's 312 behind it a few times. 20141018_121235.jpg Although the 312 is longer it is way easier to tow than my fatty pc. Lol

Boat and trailer is at the trailer shop to get the bunks reworked and reposition boat for proper weight distribution. Also installing a Hydrastar marine electric over hydraulic brake system and a weight distribution hitch. I'll report back when I get it back next week.

I never posted the FL with the boat. Freightliner Sportchassis with the MBenz motor. I sold it when we started storing the boat at a place that had a launch ramp. I used a 2012 Dodge 3500 dually to tow the boat to SD and it did great, wouldn't hesitate 1 second to buy that truck. The launch ramp is directly next door to marina/storage so we no longer need a truck and we're never bringing the boat back to AZ.

Nice setup there Magic34! Some day I'll have a 370ss, love that boat....

Got this pic of my 260ss behind the new to us family/boat hauler the other day. Had it out cause I'm having a nice shelter/Boathouse made for the boat(that cover was new a year ago and was dark Navy blue).

It's a 03 Yukon XL w 8.1l w 110k on the clock. Shit for MPG, but pulls like a freight train and lots of room for the family.
