Winter projects

White strip of upholstery along sides of v birth got vinyl painted last night. A few photos showing what it looks like on the underside of the deck when the headliner panels are removed.

V birth panel installation is pretty much done, just have to button up some wiring to the new LED strip light fixtures.

The side walls below the white strip that was repainted are just about ready to be glued too. That'll leave the multi compound curved underside of the deck (uhm...not fun), side trim and shelving to complete this section of headliner replacement. The carpet on the steps and side of the v birth will also be replaced. Since I'll have good access to bow railing repairs, the underside of the deck will probably need to wait until I get through with that repair first. BUT with the panels and lighting installed we'd at least be able to use her in the meantime.

V birth - painted vinyl and new side wall material installation almost complete. Some trim work and working out a few wrinkles is all that's left then on to new carpet on the bed pedestal and v birth side steps. Main cabin to port was dismantled as far as feasible for headliner material replacement. This was....not fun. Patience and persistence. Lots of it. Working the relatively large piece of material behind the cabinets i think will prove to be one of the more difficult tasks of this project. Although you can't really see that much of this particular section, to do the job correctly I really felt like it all had to be replaced. And I didn't want it to look like Fido's ass every time a cabinet was opened. Even though very little is seen in the end, it looks pretty darn good AND it is another opportunity to hone skills. Much can be learned in these dark corners, such as if you tilt your spray gun over too far the lid will come off and spill glue all over yourself and the counter top. Easy enough to clean off the counter top but required partial shaving of one wrist to remove from skin.

Wow! Looking good! Carpeting is next. No plans to do hardwood or composit floors? I have a friend about to do his and wondered what the rationale was for not doing hardwood if you're going to replace everything anyway. He might be interested too! :)

Ceiling panels got partially done before boating season was in full swing. We're getting by for the season and I'm thinking next year is going to be a "tie up all the unfinished projects" year. We've still got quite a bit of stuff that needs finishing. A few pics of the overhead LED fixtures that I built, they double as headliner panel retainers.
