UNDERWATER LIGHTS

I BET YOU CAN'T WAIT TO GET THOSE PUPPIES ON AND LIT!!!!! GOOD LUCK WITH THEM, AND KEEP POSTING PIX OF THE INSTALL. THANKS.

Yep cant wait! wife cant either, wants then out of her kitchen ::)

Tell her you would like to try them out in the kitchen by mounting them in the wall till its time to install in the boat :D :D

Just placed my order on the 2010's in Blue (180 deg) and cannot wait to have them installed.

Ocean LED is the way to go on fpr the lights. Quality of product is unmatched and if i am putting a hole under the waterline, I want the best. Don't want these things rotting out under water!!!

FYI, running with underwater LED lights on at night is illegal, you will be asking to get pulled over...

Good luck, I am thinking about installing them on my boat when she comes in. Too bad Formula does not install them on Fas Techs at the factory...

I think its illegal if they are white, red or green as this could interfere with navigation/aids.

I could be wrong but will check with my coastie buddie when i see him.

I HAVE BEEN STOPPED ALREADY FOR HAVING THE BLUE LIGHTS ABOVE THE SWIM PLATFORM ON. WAS TOLD THAT ANY LIGHT OTHER THAN THE NAVIGATION LIGHTS ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE BOAT COULD NOT BE ON WHILE NAVIGATING.
FRIEND HAD A PONTOON BOAT WITH AMBER LIGHTS ON EACH PONTOON SUPPORT. HE WAS MADE TO TURN THEM OFF, AS THEY WERE ON THE EXTERIOR, AND WERE NOT FOR NAVIGATION.
DOCKING LIGHTS OR HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON WHILE NAVIGATING EITHER.
I GUESS IT DEPENDS ON THE AREA AND HOW STRICT THEY ARE.

YES, VERY IMPORTANT. I HOPE MANUFACTURER SUPPLIES A LUG FOR BONDING WIRE. REMEMBER, ALL UNDERWATER METALS MUST BE BONDED TOGETHER TO PREVENT GALVANIC CORROSION.

I KINDA KNEW OCEAN LED HAD A BONDING TAP, SINCE THEY ARE THE BEST. NOT SURE ABOUT OTHER BRANDS THOUGH.

Well, the time is almost here to remove the shrink wrap and start drilling holes in my transom for some lights..... There seem to be some fairly good lights out there, surface mount and through hulls, but the Oceanled's seem to be worth the extra cost.

I just had my 2010's installed and turned them on this past weekend - they look really nice. I bought the 180 degree blue ones, therefore there is no black area behind my 40 pc. The only setback maybe the depth of water penetration. They look good and I am very pleased.

I cannot remember if they bonded them. If not, can i simply run a bonding wire from light to zinc on transom, or do i need to run it somewhere else?

Just went thru the Formula plant and see that they are using Ocean LED. Nice clean install, way back on the back transom.

In a conversation during our tour, I noticed that Formula was notching a small square out of the encapsulated treated marine plywood, then encapsulated the cutout.

Evidently Ocean does not make a long enough stem to go thru the fiberglass, and then the multilayer thick Formula transom.

Keep this in mind that it may be more than just drilling a hole in your transom.....

I had the 2010's installed on my 40 pc and there is plenty of stem on the lights to go through the transom. i do not know which formula you are speaking of, but the ocean led's have a very long stem for that purpose alone.

BEECHBOY,
THEY WERE PROBABLY USING THE X520 LIGHTS. BIGGER HOLE, AND NOT AS LONG AS THE 2010'S.

Here are a couple of pictures showing the 40PC with 2010's installed and working
