UNDERWATER LIGHTS

Has anyone added underwater lights to a 40PC. If so, any suggestions as to manufacturer and models. I am looking into adding them at my next haul out and would appreciate any comments.

I HAVE CONSIDERED ADDING LED LIGHTS TO MY 37PC. BRAND I WOULD USE IS OCEAN LED. VERY GOOD QUALITY, AND I BELIEVE FORMULA ALSO USES THEM. THEY ARE PRICY. YOU ONLY NEED TO DRILL A SMALL HOLE FOR THE WIRE AND STUD.
WHAT COLOR ARE YOU LOOKING AT? MAKE SURE YOU FIND OUT WHICH COLOR WORKS IN YOUR AREA. IN THE CLOUDY RIVERS HERE IN PGH, I'M TOLD WHITE IS THE ONLY OPTION.

Formula uses Blue on their boats. I have seen them in the water here at Lake of the Ozarks we have kind of brown water. The blue lights light the water like the ocean would look. I have seen white on sum of the Sea Rays and it makes the water look yellow and dirty. I would try to stick with the exact thing Formula uses and it would be like an update instead of an aftermarket add. The three lights that they use are very bright, they will actually melt if you try to use them out of the water for any amount of time.

TROY,
WE HAVE EXPERIMENTED WITH THEM BOTH. IN OUR RIVERS, BLUE DOES NOT SHINE OUT FAR ENOUGH FROM THE PLATFORM. WHITE DOES.
IMAGINE TRYING TO LIGHT BROWN ICED TEA WITH BLUE LIGHTS. JUST DOESN'T LOOK GOOD.

There has been a big deal made on the "thehulltruth" website about these. Some guy on that site has custom made his own LED lights that apparently last very well and are made to mount under the water in the rear just as your trying to do. They aren't as pretty but he's selling them for $150 for one, $125 ea. for 2 or more.

The first thread is about buying them, the second shows pics and how they are made. I have only visited the site a couple times and only found it when trying to sell a Northstar 952 I want to sell.

OCEAN LED LIGHTS HAVE THERMAL SAFETY DEVICES BUILT INTO THEIR LIGHT TO PREVENT OVERHEATING. THEY DO SAY THAT THESE CAN BE OPERATED WHILE ON PLANE. THEY ARE THE ONLY BRAND I'VE FOUND TO BE FAILSAFE.
WHITE OR GREEN IS THE COLOR RECOMMENDED FOR BROWN WATER. BLUE, AS PRETTY AS IT IS, WORKS IN FLORIDA AND BAHAMAS WITH CRYSTAL BLUE WATER.
ANYONE INTERESTED, CAN E MAIL ME. I HAVE ACCESS TO GETTING THESE AT GREAT PRICES.

Troy,

Can you verify with Formula that they do use Ocean LED and what size/Model they use on the 34 or 37PC.

I would guess its the 1520 thru hull.

I'll have to do it after Holiday break all I could do today was Leave a message with Pete. I might hear back today or tomorrow if I'm lucky. All my info just says underwater lights.

Looking at the Web sight the Thru hull looks like the same type and style but for some reason I thought they were square I may be wrong I will let you know as soon as I can.

I just wanted to let you know if your interested in underwater lights I do sell these on my site for much less than most manufactures. They are from Stainless marine and are available in 4 different colors.

Steve,
Talked with Formula today, I think you were right they use the Ocean LED's, but have a differant model # X-520 .
Hope that helps

TROY,
FORMULA USES THE X520 ON THE SMALLER BOATS. IT IS ALSO PLASTIC. THE ONES THEY USE ON LARGER BOATS ARER THE 2010 MODELS. VERRRRRY PRICY.

Do they offer escape financing on the LED's :D

option B. 4 super bright LED mag lights. 2 attached to each trim tab with duct tape.

I know, I know, $300K boat, what another $3200 bucks right!

Steve,
Just trade in the 34 for a 37. Then you can get the Escape Program on your new LED's. ;D
