SINGLE POINT WATER FILL

the fresh water system is the same, wether you have a hose conected or not. you choose where you would like to draw from. tank or hose.

you have a switch under the sink that chooses city water, tank water, or tank fill. when on tank water, it pulls from the tank. when on city water, it pulls from the hose. if the water pump is on and the city water, it choses the city water.

Ya know, I have never had city water ever connected at my dock, I always just fill the fresh water. GSENT taught me something on that last post. As far as the vaccuflush goes, I have always been very paranoid about putting toilet paper down it for fear of clog. Guess that fear is stupid.

On my boat there is no selector. If there is pressure on the hose inlet in uses water from the hose. Also I can't fill my fresh water tank via the hose connection. Only through the filler threaded cap on my deck. Just throwing it out there in case some people also don't have or can't find a selector valve. Apparently formula did it it least 2 different ways.

MACJAZZY, SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION. I SHOULD HAVE STATED THAT WE HAVE ONE POINT WATER FILLS. WE SELECT WHERE THE WATER GOES UNDER THE GALLEY SINK. YOURS MUST NOT HAVE IT. I.M SURPRISED, SINCE YOURS IS A 2005 LIKE MINE.

I too don't recall seeing a selector switch.
I'm thinking when the dockside water is pressurized something magical happens.
Ill let the team know.

2008 31PC no selector either...

However when there is pressure it pulls from city water...no pressure fresh water...

So IMHO better than selector :)

I fill from the deck fill on the bow....that is the only way. City does not fill the fresh tanks.

I believe some models (37 PC being one of them) have only one point to fill the tank - city water connection in back. My 31PC had both city water in stern (cannot fill from here) and tank fill in bow deck.

I like the setup I currently have better - one place for fill and city - because I never have to open a connection in the front of the boat to fill the tank. Just hit the switch and it fills up the tank if necessary. Also, if I want to pull from the tank for some reason I don't have to disconnect the city water line.

Yea, thats a nice feature. It would be nice to know what models this is offered on.

I spend many an afternoon dragging out the hose, pulling over the boat, getting the kinks out and filling the FW tank for what seems like hrs, no really it does take a long time.

THE ONE POINT WATERFILL IS GREAT. NOT TOO MANY MANUFACTURERS USE IT. IT IS ESPECIALLY HELPFUL WHEN WINTERIZING. JUST HOOK UP THE ANTI-FREEZE AND PUMP IT THRU THE BOAT.

It is nice.

I know for sure it's standard on the 37PC and 40PC along with the 400SS. I would guess the 370SS may have it as well but not sure... and of course the Yacht has it.

I always fill my tank from the transom hookup. Unfortunatly when I opened the deck fill which I only use to put antifreeze in the tank I found that the chain which holds the fill cap had totally rusted out.

SINGLE POINT WATERFILL

My 07 34 PC has the single point system as well.

GSENT........dumb question here. How do you hook up a gallon of antifreeze to pump through the single point system? Along these lines, I put a very small amount of bleach in every fresh tank when I fill, but that is easy. I just pour a couple caps full of bleach into the disconnected supply end of the hose, and then reconnect it to the water supply. When I turn the water on, it goes in the tank along with the water, and gets homogenized by the water rapidly flowing into the tank. This takes away the bacteria, mold and mildew issues inside the water system. This method wouldn't work for gallons of AF though.

Also, I have a water softener system I bought primarily for washing my boat, as I got tired of hand drying the boat every time to prevent spotting. Best thing I ever did. However, when I fill my holding tank with water, I filter and soften the water before it goes in. This preserves the plumbing fixtures and the water heater, as hard water is their number one enemy.

SINGLE POINT WATERFILL

V1,
FIRST, I HAVE AN AIR LINE WITH A FITTING TO GARDEN HOSE, THAT I ATTACH TO THE ONE POINT FILL. I BLOW ALL WATER OUT OF THE LINES WITH ABOUT 35 POUND PRESSURE
I HAVE A LITTLE GIANT 120 VOLT PUMP THAT I PUT INTO A BUCKET OF ANTI-FREEZE. IT HAS A GARDEN HOSE OFF IT THAT ATTACHES TO THE ONE POINT FILL. I BY-PASS THE HOT WATER TANK, AND OPEN FAUCETS, ONE AT A TIME, STARTING WITH THE FARTHEST ONE FIRST. WIFE WILL UNPLUG PUMP WHEN I TELL HER (WHEN I AM IN BETWEEN FAUCETS, AND THE SYSTEM IS BUILDING PRESSURE). I ALSO PUT ABOUT A GALLON IN THE FRESH WATER TANK, AND RUN PUMP TO WINTERIZE THAT SMALL SECTION OF LINE FROM TANK TO SYSTEM.
WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE, I RE CONNECT AIR LINE, AND SALVAGE THE ANTI-FREEZE. I CATCH IT IN A SMALL BUCKET, AND TEST ITS STRENGTH. I ADD NEW TO IT, FOR NEXT YEAR.
I DISCONNECT THE WATER SUPPLY LINE TO THE ICEMAKER, I DO NOT PUT ANTI-FREEZE THERE, AS IT WILL CORRODE THE ICE PLATES. I JUST OPERATE THE ICE MAKER FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS WITH NO WATER GOING TO IT. FORMULA WAS NICE ENOUGH TO INSTALL A SHUT-OFF VALVE FOR THE ICEMAKER.
I ALSO HAVE A FILTER ON MY DOCK (CHARCOAL) THAT I FILTER ALL WATER GOING INTO THE BOAT. CHANGE CANISTER ABOUT ONCE A MONTH. I ALSO CARRY A PORTABLE ONE THAT GOES ON ANY GARDEN HOSE, WHEN TRAVELING. IT KEEPS ANY PVC GLUE, DIRT, OR RESIDUE OUT OF THE SYSTEM. WE DRINK OUR WATER FROM THE BOAT, AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS.
THE FRESH WATER PUMP AND SCREEN IS LOCATED BEHIND THE REFRIG ON MY 37PC. I DO NOT WANT TO REMOVE IT TO CLEAN A SCREEN ON THE PUMP. I WOULD RATHER HAVE THE EXTERNAL FILTER.

Thanks GSENT.

I have been doing it all through the holding tank, but I believe your method uses less antifreeze. In order to use the holding tank as the AF supply, you must put several gallons in it in order for the pump to not cavitate. First, utilizing a shop vac, I have been evacuating all water out of the holding tank that will not drain out of the plumbing fixtures. I then recapture the AF out of the holding tank in the spring with the same shop vac prior to recommissioning.

One thing I do that you didn't mention.... I go to the anchor wash down (with the water pump selected on), and run water thru that line until antifreeze comes out. Considering this line is more closely exposed to the elements, I want to make sure it is protected. Perhaps you do this, and just didn't mention it.

Anyhow, thanks for the info. Perhaps I'll do it your way next time. That said, does the Little Giant pump come with the garden hose fitting on the end, or did you have to terminate that yourself?

Thanks again.

GW

V1,
I DO NOT HAVE AN ANCHOR WASHDOWN HOSE.
YOU CAN BUY ANY SUMP PUMP WITH A GARDEN HOSE FITTING ON IT. MY LITTLE GIANT HAS A 1 1/4 DISCHARGE THAT I BUSHED DOWN TO 3/4 GARDEN HOSE FITTING.

Interesting... I know some people that have a water softener connected before the water goes into their boat, but I didn't know it was better for the equipment - thought they just wanted soft water. Maybe I'll look into getting one too. I have heard theay are great for washing the boat too so that's just another plus.

Regarding the filter... which one do you guys use?
