LED Lights

but not as good as 4.99!! DOUBLE POOP!! i guess i learned my leason. that 6 bucks was almost a six pack wasted :'( TRIPPLE POOP!!!!!

I replaced all my standard(hot) bulbs in my '87 F 272 SR1, including navs, from a site called "Superbrightleds.com. Try that, I think you'll like the results

I just got my blue LED replacement light from superbrightleds for the the radar arch and I love it. Now my cockpit matches the blue glow I get from the newly installed, impulse-buy, underwater LEDs I had installed just before splashing.

So while we are talking replacement LED replacements...does anyone know offhand the bulb type(s) for the low level (height) bulbs in the cabin and/or the cockpit on a '07 31PC (I forgot to look this weekend)???? I'm thinking brighter blues in the cockpit and cooler (temperature) in the cabin (has anyone else ever touched one of those with a toe after they've been on for a while...ouch).

Jeff

Yep, listed above...the G4 Side Pin...get the warm white for sure for the cabin. You don't want a "cool" light in the cabin.

Doesn't the cockpit have LED already?

not sure of the replacemetns for the floor though...never thought to look into those, perhaps someone else has and will post.

Thanks, toofast. I meant for the on the floor lights for both. I've never popped any of those off.

The radar arch in my boat had the same g4 side pin in the arch top so I replaced it...i'm going led across the board now. Sidelights are next.

They are "Wedge" based bulbs.

I replaced them with blue LED bulbs ordered through superbrightleds.com

You'll be interested to see what you find when you remove the cover over the bulbs.

Each and every location of the 4 courtesy lights located in the lower kick-plate just above the floor and under my steps leading down below had burn marks from the EXCESSIVE HEAT of the Halogen bulbs. 3 of which were in the carpeting that covers the kick.

*****Formula should read this post and promptly change to LED bulbs in these locations*****

FORMULA is in the stone ages when it comes to lighting.....

How hard is it to make a product change when these lights have been out for several years now.

LED Nav Lights should be standard on these boats also !!!!

OK... here's what I want.

Replacement lights (LED bulbs or complete fixure with LED - don't care at this point) for my hardtop that have at least blue and white colors along with Dimming capabilities while still using my standard light switch. Am I asking too much?? Is it possible??

Some sites seem to indicate this is possible by simply swapping out the existing light with the appropriate LED, while others don't mention it at all. Seems like most of you are simply replacing your bulbs with the blue LEDs.

What's a guy to do???

Fyi... I called drsa.com and nobody answered.

DRSA IS THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER, AND ALSO MAKES THE TRI-COLOR THAT THE 45 YACHT USES. GIVE THEM ANOTHER TRY.

Hey Unforgettable,

Can you be more specific on which bulbs you used as replacements? I want to jump on this.

Thanks,
Jeff

I ordered / installed superbrightleds.com part # 921-x12 @ $4.95 a piece.

After looking at the website this morning, it looks like the following bulb may work even better since it is a "radially" mounded LED bulb i.e., shines outward with one LED at the top of the bulb and it sells for $ 3.74.

WLED-x5: 5 LED Wide Angle Wedge Base Bulb
Options: WLED-B5: Blue

Ahh better and cheaper. It's all good.

Let me know how you make out.

Billy

Just talked with DRSA.com and they are backordered on product until mid June.

They have both 7 color and Tri color LED options that both include dimming feature. Per my contact I will also need to replace my switch but that's it besides from drop in replacements for my overhead hardtop lights.

I'm taking pictures of my current toggle switch for the cockpit lights and the lights themselves and sending to them so they can determine what I need.

I'll keep you all posted but this sounds promising... expensive but promising - $95 per light and I need three. But if this gets me what I want them I'm OK with it.

As always, superbrightled's website is hard to navigate. I can't find the 921-X12's, but I assume you think we should buy the WLED-X5 (in whatever color) instead and the BASE is the same, however it will be a "better light"

What is the difference compared to what you bought...since the courtesy light aims down, why do we need a light on top ? Thanks!

Ok, gotcha...

Front shining vs. downward...

The link didn't work perfectly for me, but is this the guy you found ?

Hey,

Has anyone taken the cover off of the one lower light in the cockpit near the transom? I can't figure that one out.

Jeff

You did not mention what year boat you have. If it a 2007 or newer it will pop straight off using a small bladed screwdriver. Their should be 3 or 4 small indentations on the perimiter of the chrome trim-ring that you simply put the screwdriver blade under and twist slightly.

It if's older than an 2007 someone else will have to chime in.

Good luck.....
