Distance

we usually don't boat around here because of the wonderful wis dnr.the lakes around ocnomowoc are heavily patrolled, and the all have speed limits. we almost always tow about 70 or so miles north to lake winnebago. it's great lotsa of water and nice places to wade and relax and look at scenery and boats, too! i picked up a trialer from under a sea ray deck boat and amazingly enough it fit with out major mods. we also tow out to the miss river which is about a 3 to 3-1/2 hour tow. not bad if you've got a good tow truck. our 1996 dodge 2500 works good towing 6000 lbs or so. damn, that reminds me i've gotta fix the brakes on the trailer in spring. thanks jay wagner

I'm guessing around 8000 pounds.  I pulled it with an F150 just to the nearest boat launch when I got it.  Then I bought a F250 PSD, and the farthest I towed it was from my old house in Clearwater, to here in Deland.  I also pulled it up to the Jacksonville Firefighter's Poker Run this spring.  The new F350 PSD is a whole new ballgame.  I can't belive how much better it pulls than the 250.

If you're talking about the 302 , it's gotta be more than 8000. My 272 is 5788 dry +130 gallons of gas 1000 lbs +1000 lb aluminum trailer. And I know for sure I have at least another 212 lbs of junk on it ::)
I was being conservative.  If I had to bet, I'd say closer to 10k than 8k.  I know that if I try to jack it up with a bottle jack, it will punch the bottle jack through the asphalt.
Cuda: Turn the bottle jack over, with the pointy end up and the wide flat end down ;D

On a steel Myco, my fully loaded 302 is about 11,000lbs

here in casselberry florida, its about 20 to 30 minuts to get up to the river, if get on the expressway can be at the east coast in about 45 minuts at most, but got to love those tolls. right now both boats are getting worked on, havent had a chance to really take the 20 footer to far out, but to a little lake that is close. i have two trucks to tow with, 89 chevy 3/4 ton, and a 99 dodge, the chevy use for the cape, due to low tide and its 4 wheel drive helps out alot at that dam ramp !!! but they use about the same gas to tow the 233 up to the coast. not sure how much either of the boats actualy weigh, will to have to run them up on a scale sometime when heading out 520.

Bought my 242ls in Boynton Beach Fla. Towed it home for 10 hrs of windshield time one way. To Lanier from my house it is 63 miles, to Oconee it is 45 miles, to Allatoona it is 50 miles, to Jackson it is 26 miles and I haven't been to Clark Hill yet(now called Strom Thurmond Reservoir). 04 GMC 2500HD does very well pulling about 8000lbs. Anytime we hit water it is tow time. Boat stays here at home on the trailer, bummer.

Lots of junk. HEAVY steel trailer. Threw the junk out when I got home. Next level of weight loss would be get rid of this Heavy steel dipped trailer for aluminum. The previous owner obtained this trailer out from under a 27 foot cruiser then cut it down to set this 242 on it.
I plan to lighten up the rear of the boat too with some of my updates.
Formula says this thing is supposed to be 4150lbs dry and I think that is with a small block, this one is big block. Then there is 107 gal fuel at 6.5lbs per gal and equipment. I will weight all this at work some day. Then I'll know exactly.

Hmmm. We all have different ideas of towing...

I tow a Formula 31 PC Cruiser on a tri-axle trailer behind a 2007 Chevy 3500 Dually with a Duramax/Allison setup.

The boat is trailered about 8 times a year. it is also slipped in a marina on the Mississippi River.

Each year we make a summer trip to the Great Lakes.

Last year we trailered from Dubuque IA to Toledo Beach MI. This is a 450 mile trip, one way.

Boat is right at 13'6" high on the trailer with the radar folded down of the arch.

Boat with fuel, water, on the trailer is about 17,500 pounds.

I have trailered this boat this way for 8 seasons without any problems with the boat, trailer, or truck.

For the local lake here in Phoenix, I am 45 miles each way. Takes about an hour to get there. Havasu is 220 miles 1 way. Newport is 350 miles or so 1 way.

There is a lake about 15 minutes from my house in Mesa, but the ramps and parking suck for long trailers and the lake is filled to capacity in the summer by 8 AM.

I tow 23,000# everwhere.
