Anyone else tow with an EcoBoost?

Just curious who else is out there pulling with an EcoBoost? We pull with a 2019 F150 - mostly short distances and about an hour and a half drive twice a year. Will be moving up to a 250 eventually when I can afford to pull the trigger, but for now the 150 does impressively well.

Your rig looks great!
I hear good things about the EB engine itself being plenty powerful for up to 10k ish applications. I think its the rest of the 1/2 ton package; suspension, etc thats at its limits when you get up there. As long as you know your tongue and total weight, payload and mind the rear axle ratings, hitch ratings etc should be GTG.

I tow a 7000 lb trailer with a 2017 Expedition. It does better than my Suburban used to but it still needs to drop down gears going uphill of course. I don't push it, stay below 60 on the highway. What is your weight?

I put air bags in the rear end just to make up for some of the sag. Im guessing my weight is around 10K lbs maybe a little more between boat and trailer. Got a tongue weight scale and Im about 900lbs on the tongue. I dont keep much onboard and always tow with an empty fuel tank, or as close to empty as I can manage.

Thanks man. My trucks config is rated for 10,400lbs - so I am deff walking the line. Put bags in the back end to take up some sag and balance some weight back onto the front end. I have the 3.31 rear end with the trailer package. 3.55 rear comes with heavy trailer package which would probably be noticeable with what Im towing.. BUT! If I had known I was going to buy this boat when I bought the truck I would have just gone for a 250.. Will drive this for a few years and get a 250 once im coming near the end of the trucks warranty. I dont beat on the truck, but I know towing this monster is deff hard on it, no matter what I do to baby it.

With that weight I would personally go for the 250 diesel rather than Ecoboost

My next one tows 14k and doesn't need gas or diesel ;)

Right now my tow rig involves calling Enterprise Truck and borrowing a pickup for 24 hours.

Just an update - I finally bought a super duty. I have not had a chance to tow the 330 with it yet, but did tow with my buddy's superduty and I think im going to be much more happy with this big girl. IMG_8530.jpg

Love the new truck.

Glad to hear the EB did you well as I'm looking at used F150's and a lot have that engine. I won't be towing but nice to see it holds up.

Without a doubt one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. The 3.5EcoBoost paired with the 10 speed trans is an absolute rocket ship. Its just as quick if not quicker than many sports cars. I had the 3.31 rear end and would smoke standard camaros and mustangs. It also pulled anything I asked it to. Just got a bit hairy when pulling really heavy in any kind of cross wind. The mass of the new 250 should help me keep the rear end planted nicely. If you are looking, I wouldn't pay any mind to anything but the 3.5ecoboost.

If you have an Enterprise Truck nearby, you can test drive several makes for only like $120/day. Certainly cheaper than a new truck mistake. I've had GM, Ford, and Ram from them for towing my boat... I liked how the Ford would tow, but the Ram was more comfortable for my use.

That's funny I also just purchased a 20 F350 diesel also. Crazy torque.

Its wild how powerful these trucks are. My truck is my daily, so its nice to have all the gizmos and gadgets too. Here in the northeast heated seats are a must. Im gonna miss the cooled seats that my 150 had though.. a true cure to the mid summer lower back sweat hahah

My daily also. What trim level? I went with platinum. I have an ARE cap on order, and a Carli 4.5 inch suspension with 37 x 12.5 also coming.

I've skipped this thread because I figured it was talking about the smaller boats. Then I saw you were towing a 330ss with a 150! Eak! Glad you finally got a 250. I towed my 330ss with two different trucks, 08 F350 with a tuned 6.4 diesel, and 2017 F350 with the 6.7 diesel stock.

The 330 dry is about 10klbs, I estimated the boat at 11,500, and my trailer was 2k lbs. Thats 13,500 lbs you had behind an F150. Were my numbers wrong? It sure didn't feel like it towing, that's a pretty heavy combo. (I tow equipment at around that weight all the time).

The 250 will be night and day difference. I run 350SRW's to be legal on paper, NJ doesn't charge that much more for the 11,500lb GVW, and it makes the whole setup actually legal to tow per dot. 250 and 350 are almost identical besides the door tag on 250 that says 9990lbs for states that consider over 10k commercial no matter what.
