    330 CBR Questions . . .

Quick update for the membership . . . I sold my 1996 Formula 330 SS a few weeks ago and am now searching for the next boat. We were/are looking for good-size mid-cabin bowriders, but had not considered the Formula 330/350 CBR's, based on what we had seen at some boats shows, etc. However -...

    Trailer/bunk position on 330ss

Not much to be seen in the picture, but . . . here is what the mid-section and aft structure look like. The bunk is likely to be near the stringers and it should not cause a problem (IMO) if left at rest for a week or so.

    Bravo Cone Clutch Repair

All done . . . The second outdrive (starboard) was a lot quicker, having learned from the first one. The shift mechanism was a bit rusty, but cleaned up fine. Here is the cone clutch in all its glory. . So, in addition to roughing up the surfaces, I also flipped the whole gear set on both...

    Bravo Cone Clutch Repair

My starboard outdrive was having a little trouble going into gear and through my research i came to know it is from a situation often referred to as 'glazing' of the clutch surfaces. There are a couple of fixes . . . 1) Buy/install a new gear/clutch set ( $1,000+ in parts alone) 2)...

330 SS Center Stringer moisture reading.

Just to be clear . . . Here is the center stringer of your boat and where the holes are (or should be) . . . (Yellow dots) They should be drilled right at where the rib meets the stringer more in the direction of the arrows and not into the stringer itself. . . The idea is that small...

Has anyone else had a elevated moisture reading in the center stringer...?

No those are just ribs . . . Here is the 330SS grid structure . . . There is the center stringer and those 'halfmoon' ribs before they are glassed to the hull. Here is the more forward part of the boat where the storage area under the helm is located. This is before anything is glassed...

    330 ss ride quality...

I had that same experience when I first got my 330SS . . . I felt my 242SS ran better in the chop . . . well, it probably does. The 330 SS has a fairly flat hull ( 20˚ V) vs. the go-fast boats and large center consoles (24˚ V). So, depending on what you are used to previously, it can be a big...

350ss v berth table keeps falling down

My 330 SS was doing that . . . The lip/edge that the table (i.e. bed base) rests on is only about 3/4". The table would move towards aft slightly and due to the 'V' shape, it would fall out of the edge. I also discovered that the edge/lip had broken loose from the side. Not sure if the...

    2 Bilge Mysteries!

The 2 holes at the bottom of the main bulkhead are for drainage from the forward mini-bilge(s). There are drain lines that run along the keel of the boat and go right under the fuel tank. You should find the mini-bilges in the cabin floor and possibly in the storage area that is behind the steps...

First Season with my 1998 330 SS

'Through the bow' (like the newer Formula's) is probably not an option, given the amount of structural work that would be needed in and about the anchor locker. I installed a windlass and bow roller on my 330SS, which is what most of the 330SS have as the windlass option. I used a Maxwell...

    Windless Maintenance

I finally did the windlass maintenance yesterday. I have a Maxwell RC6-8 windlass. Maintenance was not too bad . . . just a bit awkward getting at stuff. I took the motor off the gearbox, then removed the gearbox, and also pulled the gypsy/shaft assembly out. The gearbox had its original...

    330 SS Cabin Flooring Make-over

I ripped the carpeting out of the cabin floor of my 330 SS last fall to do a make-over. My plan was to replace the carpeting with vinyl plank flooring. Fast forward to now and I have done some repair work on a section of rotted sub-floor and added a layer of fiberglass to the whole area. Here...

    Re-Upholstering My 330 SS . . . .

Forgot to mention . . . Before I made the new vinyl skins, I made a new mooring cover (sunbrella) and repaired the bimini and its storage cover, replacing all of the zippers. I did all of this just for practice before taking on the vinyl. The right machine makes all the difference in the...

    Re-Upholstering My 330 SS . . . .

I have been busy over the winter so far. The 23 yo vinyl upholstery was getting brittle and starting to crack. Sooo, I decided to take on the re-upholstery as a DIY project. I got myself an industrial sewing machine designed for upholstery & leather, did some practicing on some spare vinyl...
