Thank youThe 34PC is a great boat!! I'm not too familiar with the Axius system but at it is essentially still using outdrives, I can't imagine it would be a complete nightmare like some of the early pod based systems. I would maybe try to do some research on Axius as everything else about the boat would be great and nothing to be concerned about assuming its been taken care of.
Thank you..!Axius is Mercruisers version of Joystick stern drive. I test drove one when they first came out and liked what they had to offer but the clunkiness going in and out of gear was very annoying. In fact, it sounded like something was going to break. I am not sure if this problem was corrected in later models. Is there corrosion on the drives? If so, have the bearing carriers under the props checked. This is very common on Merc. drives. If they cannot be removed, the drive must be replaced. Pull the bottom oil drain and look for milky oil. If the drive is taking on water, the oil will be milky. Good Luck
nifty.

My next boat, Will 100% have a joystick. If it doesn't, it's a 100% deal breaker.
Thank you ! In our area the pc 34 is hard to find, so we finally found one and it has the axius & it’s been really hard to find a lot of info on it.. it was a do we or don’t we, but ended up buying so hopefully we don’t regretWas axius ever on the 496, or did they switch to the 8.2 in 2008? If 8.2, are there catalytic converters in the exhaust system?
If budget is a consideration, axius systems and maintenance will be more money. Mercruiser does not, to my knowledge, allow non mercruiser mechanics any diagnostic and programming access to the axius system. This means less options for maintenance and higher price tags. The other thing I've heard is that you need to keep batteries in good shape with full capacity.
