You in Sync?

I redid my dash three years ago and updated to white every thing plus added oil temp , fuel pres ,and water pres to help monitor the ponies a little closer.

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to by some more of my gauges cheap cheap cheap from a dealer who went under and was just clearing his shelves. Among them I found an engine sync gauge and was considering dumping my speedo for the sync(since I have a GPS anyway).Any opinions on this?
Was also considering puttin the speedo on the passenger side but that would only give my wife more reasons to scream at me ;D ;D ;D. So maybe the sync on the pass. side to give her something to do besiides monitor MY speed ::).

I removed my speedo in favor of the GPS... Only missed having it the first day out, I think mostly because I forgot to plug the waterline for the missing gauge ;D ;D

Oops , kinda like having a dog whiz on your foot :eek:
 
That sync guage sounds pretty cool. Definately a good task for the wife. Hey baby, are we sync-ing? ;D ;D ;D

A sync guage would give you monitoring but what could you do for control of eng sync?

Gee aquaforce , there are these two sticks in my right hand that control the speed of each engine. Does that give you a hint???? ??? ;D ;D ;D
 
Truth of the matter is at any speed besides WOT you can vary the sticks to sync them. At WOT , if the controls are adjusted correctly and both carbs are opened fully , you can always play with the timing to get them to match.
 
Ok. I see.
I'm kind of stuck in my single engine single control handle type of control and thinking that one handle is controling both engines. I know about electronic sync boxes but didn't think about having control of two sticks.

Another reason I am changing my single split sticks.  ;D When I try to throttle jocky this thing sometimes I pull it out of gear :mad: :mad:

Two sticks are better than one ;D ;D
 
If you notice , the short ones are in the middle...neutral...and the long ones are all the way back...idle ;D
Some arrange them differently with the throttles in the center and the shifters split , one on each side.
 
That makes sense.
Would the gear sticks on the outside and throttles in the middle provide easier docking with the props?
 
I prefer them side by side with nothing in between to get in the way. My Cuz has had a few Fountains and his were all the way you described and it's ok with him. Guess it's all in what you get used to ;D
 
Mopower I have the factory sync guage. Is that thing reliable or should i rely more on the tachs? It seems when the guage reads sync the rpms are around 200 to 300 rpm diff.

Now that's interesting :-\. How do the engines sound? A good ear can tell when the engines are syncronized or close to it. I would tend to trust the sync gauge , since it's one gauge comparing two readings. There could be a variation between the two tachs ;)
 
they sound fine. i can tell when they are close and the guage will read green. i was just wondering because i remember your gremlin with the rpm on your motors!

PULEEZE , I'm still trying to forget it ::). Messed with that for four months. Swapped everything but engines and that was next. Never did find out why ???.
