I want to paint my engine the color of the Merc blue motors but I don't know what it is called or a paint code. Does anyone know what I need for that color???

My SS is much closer to getting the engine stuffed back in. "Stuffed" cuz this stroked 454 will have more than 330hp when it goes back in. ;D ;D ;D

Merc doesn't release paint codes......you either buy theirs or make your best guess with something else.
Good luck!!!!

Well throw me a bone here, what is "something else"? What is close? Surely someone has done a touch up or used something close enough.
Yea I know this aint horse shoes but close enough will work for me. ;D

Is that blue that you used on your engines kinda close to the Merc blue?
If so what is it called?

??? ??? ???

General Motors code 20 1981
Bright Blue-Effect

General Motors B8110A Brt Blue.

They mixed it right up, and gave me the clear, reducer, and everything I needed. It wasn't cheap at $214.55 for a pint of the color, but it came out fantastic, and I'm no painter. The base is very easy to spray. I've heard I could have gotten a cheaper base, but it turned out great, and the color is dead on. I think it looks as good, or better than the Merc finish. This is a Performer intake I sprayed, next to an original Dart Hp500 intake.

Thanks so very much ;D 8) ;D
That is close enough for me. Sounds Very close or even a match. That is great.

Merc will be done proud when I'm done with this eng. All the components will be far better than Merc originally built in this engine and dead on or better than the performance blue engines. My engine will not be built or painted by Merc but the quality and performance will be true "Blue" ;D ;D

Ever give powdercoat a thought? A friend of mine did his 500 over two years ago. Dynoed 535 hp and is still runnin and lookin great ;D

Mopower, I just looked back here and saw these pics.

That looks nice and I would think powder coating would stay very well.

Unless I make some change at the last moment I'm thinking to paint the entire engine down to the oil pan. That is what has me going the paint route.

Did your friend change the color in the engine bay to white or was it built white? Mine is gray and I think of changing it to white for several reasons.

Sorry , just noticed this answer. My buddys engine compartment seemed to be factory. His is a '91 242ls
