Water Draining?

So I am over at the boat today draining the fresh water tank by opening the facets and about a 1/2 quart of water comes out under good pressure, after that, the pressure went down to a trickle. You could not take a shower with this little pressure. My question is, is there a problem, or is this typical? The water pumps runs and does shutoff when the facets are closed, but no sustaining pressure. Also, is this the best way to empty the fresh water tank? Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you checked the aerators? Mine were clogged with crap and did the same thing. Once they were cleaned, I had plenty of flow.

Thanks, that is not the case in this instance. I have good pressure for the first 10 seconds, and it falls flat to a trickle. If the aerators were clogged, it would be a trickle the whole time.

I thought the same thing but my problem ended up being the aerator and it was doing exactly as you described. Does your sink in the wet bar area work or do all of them do the same thing?

Is it both hot and cold? You might have a kinked line somewhere.

You never indicated what the level was in the tank when you started. Could it be that the tank is empty? Usually the pump runs non stop when empty because it can't build up any pressure.

FYI...Gauges are liars too..best way to check is to actually check your water tank.

Tank was half full when this is happening, but what your saying I understand. It appears that something might be restricting the pump from doing its job quickly.

Thank you all, that is where I will look and report back. Is this the correct way to empty the tank through the faucets?

I jusy open everything up to drain the tank...all the faucets and the transom shower too

This happens to me at least once every season. Clean the screen in the pump and that should solve it.
