Stereo Remote at the Aft/Transom

Has anybody added a stereo remote in the aft area of the cockpit or at the transom? I've just wired a new remote at the helm but really want to add one in the aft somewhere.

At the boatshow, I saw the new 37pc has one by aft shower, down low at foot level. I assume this is for when you are sitting on the swim platform? I'm not sold on that spot.... Any suggestions out there?

On my 05 37 PC, the wiring is already back there, wire tied to the linkage for the door safety switch.
Just have to install the remote.

Wiring is part of the factory harness. It includes power, ground, dash light circuit, and single remote control wire. Fould it by accident one day while working on something else.

Having the wires sitting there must be nice! :) I've ran the wires on my '04...still unsure where to put it. I'm almost thinking of running 2 at this point. Would love to see some pics of what others have done.

well i've already got a remote at the helm which is one of the best upgrades i've done as far as stereo is concerned. i can add another remote @ the transom if i choose, just undecided on location. i'll add a pic of the helm remote but it is soon to be relocated.

I've been wanting to upgrade the helm remote so why not add a transom one as well if the cable is already there? I'll have to check this out as well in a month or so...

Regarding the helm remote in the picture... did you simply replace the oval non-display one that came with the boat or did you have to run a new remote cable?

FormulaTenn,
What model head unit did you have the remote conntected to? Did you use existing wiring or run a new wire? What is the model of the remote? I never liked the factory remote and mine has a short. Three days it works, the next day it does not, The next day it works again. I contacted Kenwood and their response was confusing. They said the head unit is not compatable with any remotes even the one currently installed.
Thank you.

i've pretty much replace everything on mine except for maybe the power and ground cables. Kenwood KMR 700U head unit (not CD capable or B/T compatible) Kenwood KCA RM 107MR remote w/extension cable. We almost exclusively use our ipod or sirius so it works great for us. navigating the ipod with the remote takes a little getting used to but now that we have it down it works really well. We are very pleased for the money we spent but there is better gear out there if you wanna lay out the cheeze. the wiring wasn't much of an issue, i ran it where the factory stuff was located, just had to move the amp outside the closet. wouldn't mind adding a remote at the transom but like others i'm not sure where i'd want to put it.

That is a nice remote...i really like the display. I helped install one last summer in my buddys boat. Unfortunately its only compatable with marine head units. It also has a special cable that you have run. I really wanted bluetooth.

Those pics look good...thx for sharing.

Here is a few pics of the helm remote I just installed, and the transom remote I'm installing soon..

Great conversation. I thought I was the only person that wanted a remote on the rear of the boat. I bought a second Kenwood remote The oval one and installed on the starboard side up a bit and just to the left of the shore power connections
I ran the wires from the factory mounted unit in the dash Works great and looks good.

I've considered putting the remote somewhere in that area as well. Do you have any pics?

Will take a pic next time I get to the marina. Expecting 6" of snow next couple of days so might not get to it for a while. I can tell you it looks great. I used the white unit
