Salon fridge (Nova Kool) stopped working

We were away for about a week and spent some time on a mooring and some time at a dock. About half the time the fridge was on 12v and the other half was on 120v. Everything worked great.

Left the boat for a couple of days and went back today and the fridge wasn?t cooling in either 12v or 120v mode. Both modes had power as the light was on.

Any ideas?

Several years ago I was having trouble; something I read led me to believe was the thermostat.

Maybe you can test the thermostat with an ohmeter to see if you get the expected open / closed contact behaviors ? And/or jump the contacts together to see if the compressor starts ?

I ordered a replacement thermostat from NovaKool or whoever, in Canada, and even with customs it took about a week to get the part. 70$ or so if I recall.

I've never measured to see if the fridge goes through the cabin door.

Good luck.

Got the fridge working!

1) Left it completely powered off (AC and DC) for a couple of days.
2) Turned thermostat all the way to 1.
3) Powered on the AC side.
