Rubbed me the wrong way

After 20 years of rough boating, the rub rail was loose at multiple spots all over the boat.

you could grab it and move it up/down a good inch or so! :(

Removed 525,600 stainless screws, that removed the stainless trim, then magic eraser to clean up the rubber rub rail, then another 525,600 screws later, removed that.

Tried bigger screws in the same holes - no dice, too old/screwed? So just used about 40 or so new larger screws, new holes drilled, new countersink bit, filled all the old holes with silicone, and a box of 100 new small screws for the outside stainless trim, which was also cleaned w/a magic eraser.

I've found when working on stuff, cleaning the things that go together, makes them fit so much easier.

Ohh, also I used to use an old life-jacket to house my stern anchor.
It wasn't the best, so I built an anchor box for my stern anchor now.

the red makes me think I should have also replaced all the under seat starboard with new red. that would look sweet.

the wire is just for winter storage. I don't run a battery charger in the summer.

The stupid high light has also been fixed. Totally totally safe for me on a ladder 14' in the air. totally.

Several of the old screws didn't want to come out, so using a small hack saw I was able to turn them into strait heads without damaging the stainless rail parts. Worked well the half dozen times or so.

I looked all over, pushing/pulling anything I could try.
I think really just the bolts broke over 20 years of use.
Just need it to hold together until about 2030ish.
That's 30 year of use. that's a solid boat to me.

I would have posted the 'done' photos, but I don't see the point in cleaning up the boat to sit 6 months.
I'll clean/polish it around April and get the pretty photos :)
