Restoring 252BR w/ 454 Mag. Questions on Thermostat, Trim Pump, Trim Up, manifolds

I am restoring a 1995 Formula 252BR that has a re-powered 454 Map MPI with 237hours on it mated to Bravo 3.

1) Trim Pump fluid is like chocolate milk. Whats the best way to flush? Works with down button and trailer and holds position.

2) Trim Up does not work. I took the throttle lever apart and its looked very clean with no bad wires. I will be replacing both trim pump solenoids since they are corroded along with the trim pump mount (replacing with stainless steel). Any other items to look out for.

3) When I first got the motor running lots of brown water came out. Risers get hot to the touch within a few minutes of idling (using hose to ears on Bravo 3). Will be taking the risers off to inspect inside. Any other things to look out for.

1) remove, clean tank out and rebuild trim cylinders because they are leaking

2) Probably not the handle its probably the relays or other wiring. Have attached wiring diagram

3) Have you replaced the raw water pump impeller?

Should I use air pressure to empty hoses and rams of fluid as well or just the pump housing with a syringe. I plan on removing anyway since I have a new stainless steel bracket ready for it.

I already bought the raw water pump impeller and will be replacing. I also pulled the thermostat housing. Not pretty. Pix attached. Debating acid washing and painting or replacing with new oem or stainless steel. I will be pulling risers to see what's going on in there. Riser gets hot to touch within 5 minutes of idling on trailer. Thoughts on that appreciated.

I figure I will replace both solenoids since they don't look pretty and probably have rust in there based on the corrosion I am finding elsewhere.

Its always best to test and see what's not working instead of just replacing parts. The relays may be the issue but could also be the pump motor. Right now don't know

While things are rusty, I don't see anything wrong with the housing. Wire brush and paint and it will be good to go

The risers getting hot on a hose is not unusual because a hose cannot supply enough water, and one side will be hotter then the other

If your in fresh water then using aluminum or stainless could be used even though there is the dissimilar metals issue. If your in salt water don't even try either

Salt or fresh water boat? Manifold and risers have a ~5 year lifespan on salt water. I would 100% pull the risers to have a look inside, worst case it cost you two new gaskets. But it may show you it's time to replace manifolds and risers. If you don't know age, and salt water, you may want to consider it either way. Luckily with the wet joint you can remove a riser and take a peak.

The drive trim may be a bad/corroded drive trim limit switch. I believe you can jump it right out on the wires to the pump to test. When were bellows done last? Doing bellows should replace the limit witch and sender also.

Looks like trim limit Switch is toast. Flushed cooling system in both directions. Changed impeller and thermostat with oem parts. Motor runs around 160 degrees and risers/manifolds didnt break 100 degrees until I shut down. Then went up to 120.
