Refrigerator 2000 280 SS

Hello,

I currently have a 2000 280 SS with a cockpit refrigerator from Norcold model DE451 that has died. Unfortunately, Norcold has discontinued the fridge model that I have and the 2 other models that replaced my fridge, DE751 & NR751 do not fit into the area designed by Formula by just 3/4 to 1 inch. Does anyone out there have a Norcold DE451 they are willing to part with? The model number on the fridge is usually on the lower left side inside of the fridge on a manufacture sticker. If not, has anyone come across this problem and have a answer? I've checked other fridge manufactures but their models are either too small or too large for the fridge compartment on the boat. I've spoken to Formula but they dont have an answer. Thanks!

Hello,

Just spoke with the Formula factory and they were now able to solve the problem. If anyone is interested, the Formula factory now uses the Isotherm CR065. It fit's perfectly into the fridge cabin section, plus they say the Isotherm is a better, longer lasting fridge. Thanks for hearing me out!

Thats good info. Mine did not have a fridge, but I was thinking of adding it.
How much hassle was it to persuade it into position?

no problem making it fit at all, there in lies the problem. the Iso is a bit smaller so the trim will need to be revised. i saved the old trim from my Not Cold and sort of combined the two. it was a bit of work but if you weren't familiar you'd never notice it.

disregard, i wasn't payin attention to the model numbers. i doubt your 280 had this size reefer in the cockpit, but maybe good info for someone else to use ;)

Just received the Isotherm refrigerator from UPS, unfortunately its all damaged and needs to be sent back. I'll reply again once the new fridge is mounted and installed and list any problems.

Just installed Isotherm fridge into my 2000 280SS. Isotherm mounting frame is a bit smaller than the original Norcold fridge. Needed to space out mounting bracket and drill new holes into fiberglass frame work. Used 1/2 inch thick weather stripping along inside of mounting bracket to extend, replaced original tack screws with longer ones to accomodate weather stripping. Everything looks awesome! This fridge is from China, hope it lasts!
