Prop Work - Worth it?

With the winter season soon upon us, I've always wanted to have my props reviewed, gone over, etc. Nothing is 'wrong' with them enough to say 100% these need to be 'fixed'. But I'm a bit of a perfectionist.

However, prop work is not cheap. I haven't called for a quote in a while, but I think I recall almost $300/prop?

I'll have pics of my props - hopefully Wednesday. I'm headed to the boat show Friday, and could run these over or later this month maybe.

I was going to let them know the boat/engines/HP/etc.

I can hit 5K WOT (engines says 4400-4800). at < 1/2 tank, with one person. With 2+ and more fuel, it tops out around 4600-4800.

So I think it's correctly propped now.

Ever since I got the boat, and even after 2 new engines, Starboard (at the same throttle position) is always behind port (lower)

at WOT, Strb lags Port by 200RPM

According to the gauges on the dash, which seem accurate.

Am I throwing money away having them look at them? I don't feel any excessive (really any) vibration. I adjusted the throttle cable so at cruise the RPMs are very close when the levers are synced. (I know it will never be perfect since it's not computer controlled).

I always wanted mirror finished polished props, they just look so bad ass. I know technically speaking it's slower (this thread is not about that).

So... save my money and buy a nice bench polisher... or have this place (or another, ideas?) check out my 20 year old props and make them 'new'.?

48-831915 28P is the info I found on the prop. I wonder if just buying new is cheaper?
I do love new shiny things.

thanks for any input.

Can you swap the props from one drive to the other and see if the lagging side follows the props? At least then you?ll know whether or not it?s prop related.

I could, but then they'd also be turning in instead of out. I'm told that changes other things as well. A valid test, but it's not a perfect 1:1.

Anyone else with 'analog' twins have mismatched at WOT, or is 200 RPM nothing to worry about? its 4%... chasing 4% on another engine nearly ended my relationship with my girlfriend.

I would buy more beer and think about something else

Put a scanner on the motors or hand held tach to verify you boat Tach gauges are accurate thru full range. Two motors built with same parts can be a bit off in any case. Seeing 200 rpm is a bit much but then you need to get into props and drives if they have the exact same rolling resistance and pitch
