Post your location on the map


I was anxious to see the boats on here and didn't get to as this has been down since I registered. That said, I started a new list if anyone wants to post their info. Once I have a few to add, I'll post a link to the map containing them. I'm using Google's spreadsheets and forms to collect the data, and Fusion tables to pull the data into a maps. I've never done this before so I'm hoping this is going to work. :)

After you have filled out the input form, what is the time before you are "posted?" going to the map I didn't see anyplace to submit information, so I went back to the previous reply to input my particulars. Is that the process? Submit your info, then look to see it posted. YES, you are dealing with a novice here!

Yes, right now you have to input your information into the form I first submitted. That data is then entered into a google docs spreadsheet. I then have to manually tell the Fusion Tables to update with all the entered data (it's just clicking and saying "import rows"). I am working on a script to automatically update the map when a new row is submitted.
 
OK, I've got 5 responses so far. Just to make sure I'm clarifying this right:

Just send me an email with a picture URL and I'll add it manually. I'm not sure there is an easy way for me to allow people to edit their own stuff easily with the current solution. I picked this as a low-friction way to get a map without writing any code. Anything else I do will likely take a little more work.
 
Sorry, no picture, I don't have pictures of the boat on any web site so no url to link to. I seem to keep all of the photos for me and my macbook...

I blocked a couple hours to review Power Pivot as a possible executive analysis tool, but ended up putting this together instead:

Went through my library and posted many forum-appropriate pictures. I also filled out another form and added the URL in case non-form submissions in some way violates SOX polices.

As stated by Spock in a recent Big Bang episode, "to not use a toy whose sole purpose is to be played with is... illogical"
It was in reference to a cheap piece of plastic, but I think it fits Formula owners just as appropriately.
 
I saw someone posted an update last night. I didn't get to push the update last night and I'm not in a place where I can push the update today, but I'll get to it soon. I will be automating some of this sooner rather than later so I don't have to touch it. :)
 
Sorry man. I've been asleep at the wheel. More to the point, I've been slammed at work and I haven't visited this in a while. I'll get it updated now.
