Port Light Replacements 37 PC

Has anyone here replaced their cabin windows, referred to as Port Lights by Formula? I purchased new ones through GG Schmidt, Formula provided the vendor and p/n's, the prices were much less than I expected buying them direct.

Removed all the screws from the interior flange, but cannot get them out. The exterior flange snaps in with retaining clips. Did not want to pull to hard on them. Formula stated they seal them with 100% clear silicon. I would not think that would take too much pressure to break the seal.

Any advice is appreciated

If your replacing the whole unit and not just 5he screens , it will take some effort. 3m makes a pretty rock solid silicone to ensure sealing.. do you have leaks from flange? I thought I did but turned out to be screen rubbers.. shrunk over years. Replaced and now no leaks

Yes, replacing the whole units, Windows cracked around the hinges and corrosion on the main frame. The boat came out of Florida.

I had to replace one of my portlights, the spotwelds on 4 of the 6 tabs that hold the trim ring tight to the hull broke. Formula didn't skimp on the silicone to seal it but patience with a box cutter knife and gentle pressure and it finally came loose.

I agree there is no shortage of silicone sealing the portlight. I'm in the process of replacing the screens on my 1998 41 PC but I'm taking the whole thing out and putting it all back in with a new screen so its all sealed up properly. Use a sharp knife and gentle pressure just like afratki says.

Update: Cutting the silicon seal between the main window assembly and the exterior trim ring from the outside allowed the window assembly to come free easily from the interior of the boat. Now the bad news. The exterior trim rings are installed before the inner panels that hold the vinyl wall covering. Without removing large portions of the interior they cannot be replaced. I cleaned all the old silicon off and polished to old trim rings with Simichrome. Installed the new window assemblies from the inside and resealed with new silicon. Looks very good cannot tell that the trim rings did not get replaced.

Thanks for all the input

Does anyone have leaking from the port lights? We have leaking and rust stains running down the walls on 5 of the 6 windows on our 2007 40 PC. I think we need to replace the gaskets? Anyone do this or have any advice?
