This boat is for sale at the Lake of the Ozarks and I am considering purchasing this. It seems to be in excellent condition for the age. Who ever owns this boat obviously takes pride in owning a Formula!!

I would like your opinion on this boat and on the price. Any information that you could provide would be great!!

Thanks, and Happy Boating...for those that still can this time of year!! haha

IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS WELL TAKEN CARE OF, BUT PICTURES ARE DECEIVING. ARE YOU GOING TO HAVE A SURVEY DONE?

Probably not have a survey done, but I have a friend of mine that lives at the Lake, and he was a previous owner of a 242 LS, that was in just as good a shape as this one. I am going to have him take a look at this and get his opinion before I make the trek down there.

Funny how the world goes round, 3 years ago I tried buying this boat, guy d#cked me around for weeks, at the time he had no digital pics and was sposed to mail me regular pics. we went back and forth for at least a month or so, 6 months later the boat showed up on Boatcrazy, at one time he wanted 22k which stupidly I was gonna give him back then, The boat does look mint from the pics, he talked it up pretty good too, I had a 242 and loved it, and after I sold it I looked for another but it had to be bolsters, like this one, a very hard find in the 242... hours are low, believe back then around 400~450, You will love it, the 242 is a great boat, very well balanced cuddy VS cockpit allow with the bolsters the cockpit is a touch tight,, and they ride great, they are bye no means a speed demon and conditions right will flirt with 60 with the 365hp mag, any questions let me know. Heres my old 88 242

Thanks for your imput, I really appriciate it!! So the price, what do you think about that?? Does this seem fair for a boat this old??

for anything other then a Formula no, but being its a Formula yes, there have a special following, theres a reason also ;D I know of a 91 242 with right about 500 hours no bolsters, squeaky clean too that listed for 19k and sold for 19k 2 days later, just depends on who's looking, I would buy it, naturally try and chew him down he's had it a while and if i remeber he lives in KC and only gets to the lake a cpl times a year.

You have been very helpful man...I really appriciate it!! One last question...just trying to get "ammo" before I call. LOL Do you remember anything about the trailer...like what kind of shape it was in??

do you really have to have a 242? i've got a 1988 f223ls with a 1992 502 mag and a fresh upper bravo for sale. pictures can be sent to you. let me know regardless i've owned her since 10-26-92. i'm thinking somewhere in the 12000 range call me jay wagner 262 424 3880 in wisconsin

Hello! A formula will be MINE this spring!!!! I'm starting to look around this weekend.

What is a good price for nicely maintained 1989 242LS with bolsters and w/o bolsters? These boats are all over the board on price. Thanks for you help.

Anybody have any follow-up info on the boatcrazy boat? I went to look at the one in NJ yesterday since it's pretty close to me. It was freshly uncovered so needed the expected spring cleanup. Has somewhat updated power (engine 7yrs old, drive 1yr) and other mechincal updates, but needs cockpit interior done and paint is in fair condition at best, IMO. Also has a radar arch on it that you might not notice in the pictures unless you know it's there. It's not awful, but not for me. Decent boat but seems a few thousand overpriced to me.

I think thats overpriced also, recent ad showed the drive missing a large chunk, lakeportlanding in lake winnipesaukee nh just listed a 242 with bolsters

I bought the Blue Formula 242LS off boatcrazy.com a couple months ago. Took it to Performance Marine to have them check everything and test drive. The trim tabs weren't working due to a bad connections and that was it. Put almost 100 mile on her Memorial Day Wknd. What a beautiful boat.
