Mercury Quicksilver Props for Volvo Penta Drives

While at the Annapolis show, I found out that Merc has a new Quicksilver line out, which is aimed at the Prop market for Volvo Penta. They claim better performance than the Volvo wheels.....we'll see.

The design employs a larger diameter 4 blade front wheel, with a smaller 3 blade wheel behind. According to their chart, I could choose the 21P or 22.5P as a replacement set for my F5's....depending on my existing max RPM's.

However, since I already have a spare set of wheels, I'm not likely to be the Guinea pig. It would be interesting though for someone else to take the plunge, and report back the findings. Any takers?? ;D

Yep. At least for Volvo's most prevalent drive system. Holding the brochure entitled "Quicksilver Thunderbolt Contra-Rotating Propeller System for Volvo-Penta DPS Drives" right in my hands.

I saw the display at the Annapolis Boat Show also, I talked to the Quicksilver rep for quite a bit. He told me that because of their 4blade-3blade combo they were seeing a bit more speed when replacing Volvo propsets. Although he wasn't very specific about what speeds they were seeing. I hesitate til there is more feedback to invest in a set. I do have a hook up at a SeRay dealer so I can get Merc parts for a decent price and I have been chasing a reliable 60mph in my boat since I got it. ( runs consistant 58-59, but can't quite get it over the hump)
But friends I know with Bravo III's have corrosion problems not only with the drives but on the props too. I would hate to spend that kind of money to have a bunch of rusty props hanging off my boat.
