Mercruiser Gen 3 Fuel module issues

Brethren, I have an 07 310 SS with 420 hours of engine use. Having spent quite heavily this year getting things just right I am now faced with a possible bill of $2400 plus for two of the above. My question is, how long do these items last, is aftermarket better than OEM spec from Mercury and are they really this expensive?

What is the problem with it? Paint flaking off? I don't think anyone makes an aftermarket one but check ebay, I have seen them sell complete for less than $500 each.

They need replacing, age and usage. Am sure the paint inside has long gone and have no idea when the previous owner did this level of work. Not a cheap component alas.

Mercruiser Gen 3 Cool Fuel Module did have Issue with Paint flaking off in the past on sterndrive engines including 5.0MPI, 5.7Mag350, 6.2LMPI and 8.1L I don’t know what became of it,
If you surf the net you can find them for about $400 to $800 OEM

Is this what you’re looking for? If so do you have part #

Two of these....I have the details just don't wish to spend close to $1100 per unit.

Sorry to say but your pretty much stuck so long as you say with factory. That said I would like to know why "BOTH" need to be replaced and what are the symptoms which caused the mechanic to say they need replacing?

It seems than neither have ever been replaced since 07 (from new), and one has started to show signs of leaking. Time to replace both and not worry for a few years and another 300 or so hours.

Belleair302 when will the spending stop for you, sorry I sound like a greenhorn (never) keep your head up it will slow down soon

Leaks are just O-rings, there are pumps out there with more time then that, including mine, but I don't have the same one. Understand you want to be safe. Suggest once their off go to OSO and list them on the swap shop area, you will get some takers. There is no core charge on them for return. I may be interested for resale, have to think on it

Am awaiting a strip down of these to decide upon what needs replacing. They are certainly original and not looking great, but who knows at this stage what needs replacing and what can be kept. Lets see.
