Mercruiser 6.2l Exhaust Over Temp Alarm

I have a 2016 290 BR w/ twin 6.2l (300 hp.) 108 hrs. and am getting an Exhaust Overtemp alarm on the port engine when I run it over 4000 RPM. I actually felt the risers when the alarm went off and one side is definitely hotter than the rest. Operating temp on that engine is normal according to the vessel view. I recently had a dealer replace the trim position sensor on that engine and they had to remove the drive for that repair. I am probably going to take it back to that dealer but I was wondering if anyone else had a similar situation.

I am not sure if it was ever replaced. I just bought it from Formula as a trade-in in May. I thought about the impeller but the engine temp and psi seemed fine. The boat was originally in FL and I am hoping it's not a riser or manifold.

Always best when getting a new to you boat to do all the regular maintenance to start your own baseline. I replace my impeller every 2 years and I'm in fresh water.

FYI. I replaced the impeller over the weekend and am still getting the alarm over 4000 RPM. The impeller had 1 small nick in it but other than that looked OK.

What does vessel view show the water pressure is?

Don't know what your serial number is but the motor being an EC, Merc uses a poppet valve (item 20) to try and keep exhaust CAT's at correct temp. Largest problem for me is finding the info on these motors from being so new. Dealer is about the only place until more info is obtained

Interesting... Mine is not closed cooling but it does seem to have some of the same hoses as the diagram. I am a few hours away from the boat now but when I was following the hoses around the back of the engine, there was a connection that seemed to have an oily residue coming from it (almost like it was leaking some oil). Looking at the diagram, it's right where the poppet valve would be located.

Vessel view is showing 14psi and 147-149 temp. which is essentially the same as the starboard engine

Wonder if you just have a bad sensor?
Not sure how easy/difficult the sensors are to get at and remove, but could swap it and see if the trouble moves with it.

With yours being open cool then instead of a poppet valve it would have a Tee fitting, but then again need serial number to verify

The serial number is 2A49XXXX. According to the exploded view I found online, it has the poppet valve like the FWC engine.[FONT=Verdana,Arial,Tahoma,Calibri,Geneva,sans-serif]

The partial number is coming up as a bravo drive. Many don't want to list the whole number but I don't see an issue. No one can do anything with it other then look up parts. Only place that can see the history is a dealer. Maybe I'm missing something
