Macerator?

On my 2002 330SS there are two switches in the head; a light switch and one that results in a motor running somewhere. I think it is the macerator.

What, exactly, does this do? I don't think it pumps anything off the boat. Does it just grind stuff for easier pumpout or is there another purpose?

Thanks!

Sounds like the bathroom exhaust fan running. Are the switches side by side?
Macerated or overboard discharge is usually a red button.

Yep. Side by side just inside the door. Makes sense to be an exhaust fan. I'll have to take a better look. Not sure where it vents from, though. I only remember an inlet for the A/C and heat.

Thanks

I have the same two switches in my 98 27PC and was wondering the same thing. It can't be the macerator because if my breaker for the macerator is off I still can flip that switch and hear it running. I don't see any exhaust ducting anywhere for it to be a fan? ???

you won't see it. or at least you cant in mine. raise the deck hatch and turn it on, you should be able to find it and see the ducting too.

Thanks everyone. Now that I know it is an exhaust fan I will use it and the wife will thank me......

I asked the same question about the two switches when I first got my PC. The second switch was identified as a "Fart Sniffer". :)

PC 40 exhaust vents from the shower stall next to the faucet valve on the under side of the recess. It appears to vent to the engine room air intake openings. I found the ducting by looking behind the hatches in the dog house closet.

Found it! The vent fan intake/duct is under the towel rack at the front end of the head. If you're sitting there, it is directly on front of you under a molded ledge.

Phew, another mystery solved!
