Hello Everyone

Just put a deposit on a 1999 41 PC. Cannot wait to come to an agreement and get started with this boat. We are coming out of a 32' Carver and looking forward to this boat. It has twin 450 Cummins and only has 320 hours. The next step is the structural survey along with mechanical survey and sea trial. Hopefully all goes well. I will keep everyone posted. We are very excited to say the least.

Update: Buyers accepted the offer, survey and sea trial are on Wednesday. Will keep everyone posted, but hopefully I will be a Formula owner soon.

After the survey, I decided to walk away. The boat had been poorly maintained and would need a lot of reconditioning, which is more than I care to take on at this time.

Eric b.......sorry to hear it didn't work out......hope you find something else......
out of curiosity what were some of things you saw that you don't like ( if you don't mind sharing).......

Let's see. I'll start with 6-7 years worth of algae growth on the hull, props, shafts, rudders and trim tabs. Surveyor had to use a metal putty knife to remove some just to see how bad it was. The aluminum radar arch had so much water intrusion that during winter layup it froze and created a split about 7" long on the port side and possibly the same on the starboard, but starboard side had already been repaired. We think it was due to the radome, vhf and tv antenna mounts not being rebedded. Camper top had mildew in almost every section of the canvas. Dirt, debris and garbage left everywhere. AC systems had not been maintained and needed multiple flushings, cleaning of the filters and cleaning of the condenser coils. Of the 5 batteries on the boat, only 2 held a charge, the emergency parallel lever was in use. We could not start the generator due to this. On the fiberglass under the supports for the windshield there were large cracks (15-24" long). There were signs that no cleaning or maintenance had occurred to anything on the boat except for the diesel engines. I did not spend the money to have the engines surveyed after this, but due to the lack of maintenance on the rest of the boat, suspected that the engines could also be troublesome. The hours meters on the engines were different by over 100 hours.

In spite of the known issues and obvious lack of maintenance, there was no moisture found in the stringers and hull or deck. My wife and I just decided that the unknowns were just too much of a risk for us to undertake at this time. I was not looking for a project boat and we saw this as one of those boats. It is a shame as we love this model and will be looking for another one.

WOW........
good choice......
and good luck - I'm sure once you get what you want, you will look back and say waiting for the wright one wasn't so bad after all......

Update, we think we have found the right one this time. It is a 2001 37/40 PC with the 8.2L gas inboards. It is in good shape and is clean. There are a few minor things that need attention, but nothing like that 41PC. We will see how it goes. Hopefully we will be owners of this boat soon.

Well, we placed an offer on the 2001 37 PC before the holidays, received a reasonable counter offer and accepted the counter offer. Hopefully this should be a done deal and we will be riding in this 37 PC come spring time. Hurry up Spring!!!!

Good luck Eric. Let us know how it goes and post some pics in the spring...btw...was the 41 PC brokered by NSB?

tommyd. Yes, that is the one. It is a project boat to be sure. It has been stored outside in the winter and I doubt it was shrink wrapped, there was about 10 years worth of marine growth on the hull and running gear below the water line, all of the batteries need to be replaced, there is dirt and grime everywhere. If you are up for a project, then you could make a low ball offer and probably steal it. I did not have the engines surveyed as I walked away before that would have occurred.
