Glove Box Lid - Clear Coat?

my glove box lid was chipped/peeling/etc. After 10,000 other things to fix I'm finally getting around to this. I got a lot of the paint off with a sanding wheel and drill. I'm really liking the brushed aluminum look!

Does anyone have any good way to clear coat this? I assume if I leave it bare aluminum it will oxidize. I don't want to just paint it boring white again.

Here's some forbidden milkshake photo.

Also, new cup-holders = Adds 20 horsepower! (and I'm replacing 4!)

Good news: Polished Aluminum glove box lid looks epic.
bad news: Aluminum glove box lid became 142,693 degrees in mild sun after only an hour.

3 coats of self etching primer
a few more, next day of ace rust stop gloss white.
