Glass door option or open cockpit

Up here in the Northeast it gets chilly in the fall and extending the boating season can be extremely weather dependent. I like the glass door option from a security and climate control perspective but am concerned about a segmented cockpit config. Looking for feedback from both camps.

Thanks!

Hi - I bought a 2015 Formula 45 with the glass rear enclosure last fall. It was great here in Rhode Island in October last year and in April/May this year on the chilly days. Plus, it is sometimes nice to close the door to reduce the noise at cruise. And I do really like the simplicity and security of closing the door and turning the key to close things up. In my view the layout of the 45 is naturally separated into the two seating areas by the steps, cockpit counter area, and the table storage locker. So in either configuration it feels separated to me. It is the thing I like least about the Formula’s layout but, of course, everything is a trade off. On balance I would choose the glass again.

Thanks for providing your perspective, very informative. I'm now leaning towards having a glass door. We may accelerate our search depending on a few pending circumstances....so may be in the market for a >2015 in early 2022. The challenge right now is to find one locally that my wife and I can tour!

I keep my boat in Fall River, MA. If you find yourself in that area reach out and I’d be happy to give you both a tour of “Date Night”.
