Has anyone been keeping an eye on Gas Prices on the water! I know its the off season for most of us but I just did some checking while killing time. A Marina at Lake of the Ozarks just recieved a fresh tank of fuel. $2.24 per gal is what their website shows as of Jan 19, 09.

Something tells me it will not be that cheap once Memorial Day hits. I hope I am wrong.

I too hope your wrong, however, I'm thinking if the Market remains down and the speculators refrain from driving the price per barrel up, we should be okay.

Also, Marinas are still sitting on last years gas, which they paid a premium on, so, probally no significant reduction for us until they get a new shipment. (IMHO)

agree with all of you, however the price of a barrel was down to $34 the other day and the street price for gas was $1.65.

but gas in my area on the street was as low as $1.38 and that was when oil was $44 a barrel.

someone explain that too me. cheaper for the barrel, but more for the gallon. dont compute in my book.

even though the price of crude is down the refineries are raising the price per barrel of GASOLINE to try to get some margin back and recoupe there so called losses from last summer when the price of crude was so high

The price of gas on the street here has gone up from the mid $1.50's to $1.87 since December. This is for 87 octane. For the higher grades it is what ever they think they can get for it.

TAXES, Taxes and more taxes. Did I mention TAXES!

...fixed by state and federal gov's! this is to prevent gouging...

Isn't this an Oxymoron ???

The reason why gas prices are going up, even though the current price of crude is down, is because speculators are storing the cheap crude. They are anticipating that prices for crude will rise significantly again. Try to find a storage facility or tanker that's just sitting around full of cheap crude. With the oil cartel cutting production, that doesn't help either. Supply and demand.

I kinda follow you but could you elaborate on this?

Doesn't seem correct... cause if you store and dump it floods the market, ergo, driving down the price PB...thoughts?

No NJ tax since 1987. True but NJ just has 125% toll increase this year.

BTW in NJ the driver is prohibited from pumping their own gas. So, not only is it cheap but you also stay warm!

Haven't seen a full service gas station in years! Do they check the oil, tire pressures and clean the windshield too?
