fuel gauge not working

Good morning. I really appreciate the great advice on here and I thank you all for your help. I had a fuel gauge on my 280 SS that was not working properly. It would stay on full until it suddenly went to 1/4 and then I was almost out of gas!

I pretty much learned to live with that until off-season maintenance last month and the mechanic diagnose a bad sender in my twenty-year-old fuel tank. He replaced it. Now the gauge just stays on full and never moves. What is my next step? Common Sense would say the gauge itself but I'm afraid maybe a wiring problem? I welcome any ideas. If it matters, he said he replaced the sender with the best available updated electronic model,

Fuel gauge not working, already replaced sender.

Im going to follow this thread as mine is doing similar. I played with it briefly last fall - removed the sender and it appears to be working albeit strange. Checked the grounding and continuity of the conductors up to the dash all good. when I pulled the sender out of the tank the dash gauge in fact goes to E Dipping it back down into the hole the gauge level raises. Its not linear tho or at least it doesn?t appear so. Could be due to the fact that the tank has a v profile on the bottom? Obviously the fuel volume for a given vertical change on the sender gets smaller once the level reaches the v section. This could be the sudden drop off point?? Thing is even if thats the case, the gauge should still move predictably at least somewhat in the upper 2/3?s of full. Mine is doing what yours is nothing nothing nothing BAM. Breaknout the oars[emoji23]. It never was like this before so something changed.
I thought about replacing the gauge too but that takes the project down a $$ rabbit hole since replacing just one gauge seems hokey to me. I can?t seem to find the exact sender either. Might require a call to Formula tech people. Took a few pics while it was apart hoping part #s were useful.
