Formula employees' lunch

Hi, everyone. I just wanted to make a quick post to express the appreciation of everyone here at Formula for the pizza party you organized for current employees, enjoyed today, and for the grocery cards for 250 of our laid-off team members. It's tough going in Decatur right now, and everyone here was grateful for the gesture. Reminding them that they build the best pleasure boats on the planet--and the fact that their excellence is recognized--was probably a gift as generous as the pizza and cards. That pride will help carry them through these difficult times.

I had the opportunity to take Gary, Rose and Jed on a plant tour (quiet, but I trust they learned a thing or two), and to meet Jerry. It was a pleasure. Thank you all again for the morale boost!

SCOTT,
THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT TOUR AND ALL THE USEFUL KNOWLEDGE YOU POSSESS. YOU ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS AGAIN, GARY

I JUST WANTED TO GIVE A FEW OF THE DAYS HIGHLIGHTS.
JED CAVADAS, (TOOFAST) JERRY WILSON (V1ROWT8) MYSELF (GSENT), AND MY WIFE ROSE ATTENDED TODAY'S FUNCTION.
ALL OF OUR NAMES WERE ON THE TV SCREEN WHEN WE WALKED INTO THE MAIN LOBBY. VERY IMPRESSIVE. SCOTT SMITH MET US, AND WAS KIND ENOUGH TO SPEND THE MORNING GIVING US A TOUR OF THE PLANT. ITS A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN WE ARE USED TO SEEING. MOST OF THE PLANT IS BEING USED TO STORE BOATS. VERY LITTLE BOAT BUILDING GOING ON. ALL THE EMPLOYEES KNEW WHO WE WERE, AND WERE KIND ENOUGH TO COME UP TO US, AND EXPRESS THEIR THANKS FOR THE PIZZA PARTY.
ABOUT 10:45 AM, WE WENT INTO THE CAFETERIA TO HAVE LUNCH WITH ALL THE EMPLOYEES. EVERYONE WAS SO GRACIOUS AND KIND, AND REALLY APPRECIATIVE OF OUR EFFORTS. THE WHOLE PORTER FAMILY WAS PRESENT, INCLUDING MR AND MRS PORTER SR. (VIC AND CHRIS), AND ALL GENERATIONS OF THE PORTER FAMILY. THE ENERGY IN THE ROOM WAS OVERWHELMING. PEOPLE WE NEVER MET BEFORE WERE COMING UP TO ALL OF US, EXPRESSING THEIR GRATITUDE. WE WERE TOLD BY MANY THAT THIS PARTY WAS JUST WHAT WAS NEEDED TO BOOST SPIRITS, AND RE-ASSURE THE EMPLOYEES, THAT THEY HAVE PEOPLE THAT CARE ABOUT THEM.
GRANT PORTER LED THE INTRODUCTIONS, AND GAVE EACH OF US AN OPPORTUNITY TO ADDRESS THE WORKERS. AFTER THE APPLAUSES FROM EVERYONE, WE SAT AND HAD LUNCH, AND GREAT CONVERSATION WITH EVERYONE. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO SIT NEXT TO THE FORMULA LEGEND, VIC PORTER, AND HIS WIFE CHRIS. WE HAD GREAT CONVERSATION DURING LUNCH, AND LET ME TELL YOU, HE HAS SO MUCH KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE ABOUT THE INDUSTRY, AND BOATING IN GENERAL.
IN THE CORNER BEHIND THE PIZZA TABLE, STOOD A BANNER TWO FEET WIDE, AND ABOUT SIX FEET TALL, WITH THE THANK YOU LETTER FROM THE FORUM, AND ALL THE NAMES OF THE CONTRIBUTERS. A SPECIAL THANK YOU GOES OUT TO GABBY GIRL, GREG JACKSON, FOR BEING SO KIND TO CREATE THE THANK YOU NOTE. GREAT JOB, GREG.
THEIR ARE NO WORDS THAT I CAN BRING TO MIND THAT EXPRESS OUR FEELINGS FOR TODAY'S OPPORTUNITY TO MEET SO MANY GREAT PEOPLE. I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT THE PEOPLE THAT DID NOT ATTEND, REALLY MISSED OUT ON THE GREATEST FEELING ONE CAN HAVE. THE HIGH THAT I FEEL RIGHT NOW, IS AS GREAT AS OWNING A BRAND NEW FORMULA.
IT TOOK ME A LONG TIME TO NOTICE, BUT FORMULA HAS TWO TV SCREENS IN THE CAFETERIA. BOTH WERE SHOWING A PICTURE OF THE THANK YOU CARD, AND DISPLAYING ALL OF THE NAMES OF THE CONTRIBUTERS, AND THE VISITORS NAMES, AS WELL AS EMPLOYEES ANNIVERSARIES, ETC.
LUNCH WRAPPED UP AROUND 12:30, AND WE REALLY DID NOT WANT THE DAY TO END.
I JUST HOPE THAT THE ECONOMY TURNS AROUND, AND FORMULA CAN GET BACK TO NORMAL OPERATION.
THANKS AGAIN TO ALL THAT MADE THIS DAY POSSIBLE.

I feel very priveleged to have been able to contribute to this event, and for the forum members who made this all happen. I'm optimistic that Formula will weather the stormy economic climate and emerge stronger than ever. I'd like to extend a special thanks to Gary, Rose, Jerry and Jed for showing up in the flesh to show their support. Thanks to all who helped make this a day to remember in Decatur!

Amazing. Glad it was a great day and thanks for representing the forum members.

Did you guys talk about the future in terms of 2010 model year and beyond at all ??

I feel like my response and willingness to contribute was brought about by the Porters and all of the employees. I always felt priviledged because they have been so focused on how pleased I am with the Formula's I have owned. It is easy to make one good impression, but I am on my third Formula and still going.

I am pretty sure that no other boat builder, or RV builder, etc., has created this kind of passion, following and loyalty. And, it is their attention to customer satisfaction which is in the DNA of that organization that will usher Formula out of this economy and position them to be even stronger in the future.

Go Formula!

First of all, without all of you guys and gals contributing to the event...I would not have the honor to attend, so thank you again to everyone who helped out. Even though they may not have been building a ton of new boats, work was still going and as a first time visitor to the factory I was still impressed. The entire team went out of the way to answer all my questions...

As for the Model 2010 and beyond...they indicated 2010 might not have has many "changes" as a good economy might bring, but they are still working on future projects and how fast they move will depend on how quick things return to "normal"

The downloads are pretty high resolution...so I thought I would scale down and post on this thread.

I know I am violating the "rules" but hopefully no one will mind.

Thanks for the great photos. Sounds like the luncheon was well received by the Formula employees and management.

I very glad things went as well as they did!! It is nice to see that The Formula Family is optimistic about the future and can still appreciate such a small gesture on a LARGE scale. As the cycle we are going through in the economy continues to improve, so will sales, morale, and etc...

Positive thinking and Positive attitudes will ALWAYS prevail.

Thanks to all who attended and represented the mass.

Best to All here and at Formula!

Dave

This is a copy of an email to the individual I dealt with at Formula who made sure that things were made right reagrding my boat. It typifies our feelings as Formula boat owners:

Hi Greg. It's too bad you couldn't make it yesterday, but it was really special having Gary & Rose, Gerry and Jed here representing everyone from the forum. From all of us here at Formula - thank you very, very much. It means a great deal to us knowing that you all love your boats and are thinking of us here in Decatur. Times are extremely difficult, but - just like our boats - Formula owners and employees are special, and I'm confident we'll weather this storm together. Thanks again for your support, and please pass along my thanks and best wishes to everyone who had a hand in yesterday's event.

Regards,

Mike

Mike,

I wanted to see how the lunch went today? The postings from the various forum members that attended the lunch were great. My contribution was in large part due to Formula's taking responsibility in correcting the issues with my boat.

Even though my boat is now in it's 5th season, it still is one of the nicest boats out there.

Many thanks,

Greg Azia

Few more pics from GSENT. sorry for the blurr on the thank you banner, maybe someone else has a better shot that attended.
