Been restoring this F40 for sometime, requires many new parts, the hull repainted & the engine room reworked.
The twin Yanmars in good condition have been removed for some new parts, great time to repaint the bilge.
Had many attempts to clean the bilge, the stains are impossible to remove.....
Pictures before the bilge repaint;

Thanks, I'm sucker for punishment.
With engine room bilges the question is, how far do you go?......how many fixtures to be removed?

looks to me like yer pretty much down to the fuel tanks! i certainly wouldn't remove those, nor would i remove the motor mounts. wiring can be tied up out of the way.

Nice work ice,

Did the same a few years back, only left fuel tanks and thru-hulls in, everything else came out. Can say after the fact it was worth it.

Thanks, "Can say after the fact it was worth it"...looking forward to that part

Progress;
1) With the Fuel Tanks exposed great time to visual check tanks for any corrosion, both fuel tanks look good for another 10 years.
2) With the engine mounts removed any moisture that may be trapped in the engine stringers has chance to participate, we have dry rot free stringers for another 10 years. All engine mounts have been marked so they can reinstall in the original position.
3) The engine bilge has been painted, with the F40 sealed for painting was unable to take pictures of our shinny pure white engine bilge.
4) The 1st layer of undercoat has been applied to the F40 hull as below before the painters long board the hull for a perfect finish.
