Formula 260 Project Boat

I am new to Formula boats and looking at getting one that needs work. What would a boat in this shape be worth? The story is the boat had water in the gas and killed one of the cylinders in the engine so it has been pulled and will need to either be rebuilt or replace. Outdrive is in good shape and currently both are on a pallet that has been out of the weather. From what I can see on the inside it just needs a good cleaning and a few seat repairs (that is leaves on the floor, not damage). The boat has been stored under a carport for many years. The trailer is in great shape and from what I've read, these boats are solid and very well built. Thanks for any advice/info

Looks pretty good. Agree that it needs a good cleaning mostly. I can see that there are some cushions that are splitting at the seems but that's a pretty common issue with all of the Formula boats of this era.. Other than that, as you said, very well built boats so shouldn't have too many concerns around the hull.
I think that it is all going to come down to the price you can get the boat for factoring the work you will need to do. I would rebuild the entire motor and there will be other maintenance type items that will come along with that as well (e.g. manifolds, risers, bellows, gimbal bearing, impeller/raw water pump, etc) and that will all be several thousand dollars.

Thanks. The fuel tank is one of my concerns. The prior owner said he flushed the tank twice and still water got to the engine and destroyed a cylinder. Aparrantky that was the second time it had happened which is why he cleaned it twice. Do I need to look at pulling the tank for inspection or is there somewhere else that water could be getting into the fuel system?

How did he flush it? Did he drain it by using the fuel pick up or did he put another hose into the tank from the filler and actually get everything out? My guess is that he didn't fully flush the tank and as you know, the water sits at the bottom. I would fully drain the tank and then make sure you have good water separating fuel filters in place.
As far as pulling the tank, that might be a big job. Not sure how you can access it on that boat.
