Ditch Bags, EPIRBS and safety

How many owners who use their boats off shore on on the bigger Great lakes have more than a VHF, a couple of life jackets and two fire extinguishes aboard their boats? Do you have a ditch bag and whats in it?

Just finished putting one together for an upcoming trip to the Abacos. It consists of an EPIRB, hand held VHF, hand held GPS, first aid kit, smoke flares, hand held flares, and a flare gun, flash light, knife, and a few other misc small items... Hopefully it will never leave the boat other than to charge batteries...

set of impellers (engine & generator), belts, and a bunch of tools and hose clamps... You can only plan so much for engine break downs, I do have towboatUS unlimited if something breaks that we can't fix and end up dead in the water.

How about a spare propellor and fins plus mask i along with a jagged edged knife in case you get caught in fishing wires or rope?

No spare props, I would need to carry 2 (bravo 3 outdrives). Fingers crossed we don't hit anything. Me and rest of the crew are divers so on trips like this we have a few full dive setup's in the boat. I guess if something happened someone would put it on and see about fixing it.

We will trailer the boat from the panhandle (Navarre / Ft. Walton Beach) down to Stuart. Stay the night in Staurt at Sailfish Marina then cross over to the west end to clear customs and take fuel. From there we go north around Grand Bahama and into the Abacos. Final stop is Lubbers Quarters Cay. We are planning doing it in a day, it's right at 200 miles one way.

we have the house in lubbers rented for a week then a day in the west end on the way home... I think including trailer days I'm gone like 9-10 days. I wish I could go longer but it's hard to get away from work and real life any longer than a week.
