Costly Mistake

While fueling up this weekend we took a pretty big wake. It caused my boat to rock and catch my fuel cap under the rub rail of the gas dock. It snapped the chain and bye bye gas cap. $80 plus for a replacement. Hard to find. Not going to use chain next time. Damn.

That stinks....I would hunt down the boat that waked a gas dock and see if they would pay for this. They are responsible.
I know many boaters don't care....but hey you could always ask nicely.

That does stink. I can relate sort of. Someone recently stole my stainless pump out deck fitting cap. So far I have bought and had to return 2 replacements purchased off Amazon. They were under $25 including the whole rest of the deck fitting not just the cap. China knockoffs no doubt. Tried 1-1/2 and 2” size but neither of the threads were the right fit. I was hoping to avoid paying huge markup getting it thru Formula but that may be the next step.

I got a replacement fuel cap for my 350 at Worst Marine. I also removed the chain and just put it in my hand during fueling. I made the mistake once of putting it in my pocket and left the dock without remembering to put the cap back in.
