Charles battery charger failed

After ten years of life, but not use, my battery charger has failed. Anybody ever had to lift the engine hatch manually, good tried it is heavy even with two people. No electrical bypass on the 310 ss for no power, even if you try to bypass. Oh well a new charger for $700 plus is on its way. No wonder my bilge pump was not working recently with all of the Florida rain.

Spoke to TAG and with no power whatsoever on my boat they suggested lifting the engine hatch manually. Wow is it heavy but we were successful. You can use the 12v if you have some power and a booster battery. We had nothing.

That doesn't sound right. I disconnect the batteries during the winter and use that method to open/close the hatch. Yes, very heavy if you lift it manually.

I had a similar issue years ago on my 01 330 but there was a way to charge the system. If memory serves me correctly I used a battery charger to plug into the charger ( I tech think it was a cigarette lighter back then!).

However I feel your pain today. The ram has failed on my 400 and I have been trying to chase the issue down. Nothing like climbing into that hatch, crammed in with d6 diesels and HOPPING your buddies and the 2x4 don't give out.

Finally a new battery charger was installed. Not a simple job and as you can imagine many parts needed to be 'purchased' from a local electrical store to make the charger work properly.

Charles manuf. is located in Illinois. I spoke to them about updating my charger to the newer batteries verses the lead acid batteries. They will do this for 75.00 plus shipping which is a real good deal.
