My 5 year old carbon monoxide detector beeps every 30 seconds. Is it time to replace the entire unit? Boat has not been run in a month and sitting cabin open all day, so no way any CO could be in the cabin.

Is this easy to replace?

Where do you suggest I find one online?

Thanks!

The detector will also chirp if you have low battery voltage, have you checked that first?
Charge your batteries and see if the issue goes away.

Not sure if your unit is bad or not but I've was told when I had my boat surveyed that the CO detectors should be replaced every five years. Not sure if this is overkill but I thought I'd pass that along.

Thanks for the link! Helps a lot.

I ordered one yesterday, since my current one is over 5 years old and the house battery was just replaced and charged on Tuesday. I did not think about the manufacturing date, will have to check it when it arrives and return if too far in the past.

I just bought a cheap battery operated one from Lowes. Replace 9v battery at the beginning of every season. Just wasn't sure if the original 2002 model was working anymore. I was a professional firefighter for 28 years and we always told people to replace their smoke detectors every 10 years, so I figured CO detectors must be the same, so I just added a both.

I replaced mine 2 seasons ago. And instead of removing and replacing the whole unit i just replaced the insides and snapped the old cover back in place.

Replaced detector today, took about a minute. Now, it doesn't beep every 30 seconds!

Thanks for everyone's help!
