Broken sun pad hinge point

Looks like part of the material (starboard?) of my sun pad broke this past weekend and it came off of the starboard side hinge. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you get the sun pad off and how did you fix it?

Thanks!

Yes, both sides broke on mine at different times.
Formula has since reinforced the part and they send me repair pieces for free.

I believe this is only a problem on the 2011-12 boats.

Looks like the same gray polymer material Formula uses in other upholstery applications. Its the lightened version with lots of air bubbles vs regular starboard and not as strong. It may have other properties that they use it instead of the full density material.
I had the screws on the helm flip up bolster on my 260 pull out in a similar fashion. Turns out the polymer boards simply crumbled/disintegrated around the T-nuts. Formula was great about quoting me several options to fix. (20 yr old boat) The whole assembly with new vinyl skin ready to bolt on, just the vinyl skin and or the structure underneath separately. I almost went that route but in the end decided to DIY figured if I messed up the option to purchase was still there.
Bought the starboard and some SS staples and went to it.
Also made SS backing plates and welded the T-nuts for anti rotate. This reinforced well and the spikes on the nuts didn?t need to stab into the plastic to start the cracking.

Thanks guys, I’ll give Formula a call tomorrow.

PJ, how did you get your pictures so big? Every time I post a picture it automatically gets scaled down.

I use tapatalk on my phone. Gives the option to go small med or large. I usually go medium unless theres a complaint about them being too big. I think large is the one that makes them gigantic so I try to avoid that.
