Bravo 3 Backlash Measurements

When replacing the prop shaft seals on a Bravo 3 do you need to measure the backlash? No gears were changed and the same shims are being used.

Also posted elsewhere but figured I would try here as well. Thanks!

I'm not a thousand percent sure .... but I'm fairly certain the answer is no.... I don't think the seals change any of those dimensions

I got a lot of feedback on iboats. General consensus was that it's a good idea to have it measured.

Based on the fact that you had the shafts sent out for machine shop work and then re-assembled (as detailed on the iBoats thread), the scope of the work is more than a mere seal replacement. So, it would be advisable to measure the gear lash to make sure things have gone back together as intended.
