Bilge pump switch

I came in at dark tonight and noticed the bilge pump switch in the off position had the red light on. The console lights were off. When i turned the pump on the switch light turned yellow and the pumped worked. Any ideas this never happened before.
 
Check both pumps to make sure one is not running or trying to run. Red light usually means that one or both pumps are running.
May have a bad switch, stuck motor, etc.
 
My 37 PC has a cabin bilge under the aft cabin rear seat. It is wired so when the dash manual switch is activated, both pumps run.
 
Ok I goy it . After 9 years the float switch in the engine room bilge needed to be cleaned out. The float was hanging up. The switch on the console automaticlly lights red when pump is running even if switch is off. If you turn the switch on and there is a problem like I had it will light yellow. When I turn on the switch the whale pump also runs which also pumps cabin bilge. Thanks guys.
