Aft Camper/Glass

Hi all,

Not sure how you all boat, but i always try to boat "naked" ;D No not that way but thats what we calll it. All canvas and glass removed including bimini wrapped up and on the arch. I got sick and tired of taking down 4 pieces of aft camper glass  having to roll it up and store it. Unroll it to put it up and then getting the glass all smudged from sweating to death while doing it.

I got a canvas company to make me a 2 piece all canvas (sunbrella) aft camper. Matched up the zippers/tubbing to the existing canvas and it works perfect! The seam/zipper is at the stbd side of the opening in the transom to the cockpit door for access. Takes me 1 minute to take it down and 1.5 minutes to put it up. Just roll or fold it up and you dont have to worry about creasing the glass or getting it smudged. We have no window in it so it adds some privacy too!

Cost was approx $1,000

PS. they made the part that meets the top at the arch that leaks bigger so my leak is gone!

Sure.. Need to take one first....may be there tomorrow, if not mid week. Looks just like the glass pieces but no glass and all black.

to get "naked" don't you have to remove the front/side glass as well. that always takes me way too much time...thus I never use the camper top unless it is pouring rain.

Our aft stays wrapped and stored most of the time. I am building a hardtop for the front though. I'll eventually add a curtain to the arch to contain the ac.

My camper canvas is still in the bag sitting in my garage. Have never used. I find it to be a big waste of time and frustrating. Would love to see what you did. I can see myself going to one of those regal sport coupes in the future.

Yes all glass comes down and the aft Bimini. The front bim stays up to help keep some sun off my face ;D

We don't have a covered slip up here in Jersey. We use the camper often... Rain, no see umms, pollen in the spring, and the cool nights during the spring and fall to keep warm and the dew off the seats for morning coffee. I think the forward glass is much easier then the cockpit cover. My neighbors are already jealous of the aft curtain.. They have 36 cruisers with glass in the aft. Like I said, takes me no time at all to take down and they don't have bags and noodles to roll them up!

Hope to get to boat today and take a pic.

Here goes the pics.. Note that the snaps in the well are not done so it looks baggy.. when snapped its tight, bounce a quarter off it.

With this you really could do some naked boating!

I like it for the convenience, but wonder if I would miss sitting in the boat on a cool day (or night) and not being able to see out the back.

Well then you take down the canvas and put up the glass ;D

C,

That it so funny seeing this. I just had a canvas guy come to my boat about a month ago and give me a price for the exact same thing. He wanted 750.00 in my neck of the woods.
