95 41PC ceiling panel and wall panel removals

All, the gray vinyl used for the ceiling panels in my 95 41PC has started to 'droop' very badly. I guess the black spray adhesive that was used is finally giving out. Here is my question. I was told once, the panels are really just 'velcroed' up there. With very strong velcro, but if I'm careful, I should be able to gently pull them down one at a time. I could then pull off the vinyl, clean off all the old adhesive, and either stretch it out and reapply, or pick a new color and give the boat a slightly new look. I'd also be interested if anyone knows about the vinyl panels surrounding the circular shower.

Thanks, Brad.

Not sure how much similarity there is between our models (I have a 27PC), and model year (2008), but I had to pull the aft cabin ceiling panel down on mine last summer and found that it was held up with Velcro plus the overhead light bezels. TAG was a fantastic help, providing a marked-up visual to help me properly ID all attaching points and things to watch for. Assuming a similar setup, it was very easy for me to remove the bezels, pull the panel down enough to reach in to the Velcro sections and separate them gently. While it was down, I added a couple pieces of industrial strength Velcro to augment the existing ones and hopefully avoid any future separation. While the panel was off, I'd suggest that you are right; it'd be quite simple to reapply or replace the vinyl.

Thanks for the info. It is much appreciated. What exactly is 'TAG'? I'll take any visual references I can get.

Brad.

This is a diagram i got from the factory concerning my 34PC. This drawing is from a 31PC so i don't know if it will help you or not. I doubt that the panels are velcroed on your 41 though.

Ah, thanks for the info. i do know that some of the pannels in the aft cabin are velcroed up. I've had to remove at least two, and found very strong black velcro underneath. In some cases, there was a small block of wood attached to the fiberglass, and the velcro was attached to the wood. It appeared to be used as a spacer.

I guess I could reach out to Formula to see if they might have something similar for an old 41PC.

Thanks for the info.

Brad.

TAG is Formula Factory "Technical Assitance Group" (TAG) 800-736-7685 Ryan VanDeWeig, Scott or Craig. You'll talk to a knowledgeable and helpful person. Ryan was incredibly helpful to me, providing a step-by-step instruction and marked up photos. I'm sure I'd have made a mess of my headliner had I not understood how integral various valences and other structures are.

New to Formula and Formula forum.
Can you tell me who or what is TAG.
Sounds like something I should know.

When we looked at our 41PC, a 1998, the headliner had drooped badly and was being replaced. I understand that Formula has a set of directions on how to fix the headliner. I would either give them a call or email them. I have emailed aking@formulaboats.com and had help.

Hi Brad,
The drooping panels are very common in most of Formulas of the 90s and 2000s era. The panels are wrapped in foam backed vinyl and the foam disintegrates with age. Removal and re-installation is a huge undertaking. The curved panel that wraps around the back wall of the shower is attached with velcro but the ceiling panels are screwed. I have a PDF of the instructions; send me a message with your email and I will forward them.

California40 I tried to PM you 3x’s but I don’t believe they went thru. I would like a copy of the instructions if possible for the 41 pc roof panels. I have a sticky panel over the galley, not sure why perhaps something got to hot on burner. I just got this boat over the past summer. Let me know plz. Thnx,Paul

If you could send that to me also, I would greatly appreciate it! Doug@CutlerManagement.com
