400SS 2005 Cabin Odor

I have a slight cabin odor I cannot find. It is the most strong right when you walk in the door. Seems to dissipate after a while. I have sniffed everywhere. I have cleaned all the sink and shower drain hoses and the shower sump. The vacuflush has the good hose, how would they leak if they are always under a vacuum? All the bilges are spotless and dry. When the AC kicks on it seems a little worse. The AC pan is clean. There is a floor area that is depressed at the cave entrance. Carpeted and dry but no access below it as for as I can see.

Thoughts.....Help

Good evening....

I know this sounds strange, but can you describe the smell a bit more, it might help.

Meaning musty vs. poo should be quite a different smell.

I am one who doesn't like a smelly boat upon arrival even if it goes away after a while. I had an odor that i had a lot of trouble tracking down. I finally determined it had to be the a/c water pumps that were dripping just a little bit of oil. Talking about a little inch spot not even a puddle. Once i replaced them i cleaned things up real well and odor is gone,

Could be your sanitation hoses, they will leach with time. Take a rag with warm water and rub over the hoses, if the rag smells like sewage you have found your problem. I had to replace mine a few years ago.

I will do that. When the ac kicks on it seems a little worse. almost a dead rat in the wall smell but not as strong. Never any evidence of any critters in the cabin though. Im suspecting the san lines as they are 12 years old. The sink and shower hoses are the same age.

I didn't have to replace any hoses from the shower or sinks, only the lines to/from the shitter, holding tank, pump out and vent.

Also check and clean your sump as any debris from the kitchen sink may have collected in the box and causing an odor.

I Clean the sump every time we use the boat. I have even flushed the sump hoses and ran a brush up as far a possible. Great thought on the ac coil. I clean the filters. Soft brush and simple green? Then rinse?

Did you check the cabin bilge area that the bilge pump feeds from? On my 310, it's hidden under the carpet in the cabin's crawl space under the steps.

Its under the bed in the cave in a 400SS. Roll back the mattress and use the compartment cover to hold it. I use a small toilet brush and simple green. EZ
