40 PC engine hatch

I am no getting power to my engine hatch switch. I have shorted the the cockpit door switch, checked the inline fuse by the switch and checked the circuit breaker push fuse which has power. I can operate the hatch by jumping power to the switch terminals. I am at a loss, does anyone have any ideas? Thanks Mike

Sorry if this is obvious, and recognizing that the 2008 40pc and 2000 31pc systems are likely different, I'll throw this out until somebody else responds:
By "switch" do you mean the helm up/down rocker, or the transom open/closed barrel bolt?
Our transom door must be closed with the barrel bolt latched and locked before the hatch will operate. If your system includes this safety feature, and that is what you mean by "switch" then it has perhaps gone belly up and I would next try isolating/bypassing/jumping that. Good news is that your motor still works.

The first switch I am referencing is the rocker switch under the aft cushion that raises and lowers the hatch. I am jumping power to that switch to operate the hatch. The second switch is the lock out switch on the transom door. Currently I am bypassing the lock out switch, but it checks it for continuity. Thanks for your comments " Kimo "
