350 ss trailer bunk boards

My 350 ss has just turned up from the US and I have noticed that the trailer they supplied with the boat only has 2 bunk boards to support the boat. They run from the transom to about half way along the boat and I was wondering if that is enough support for that size boat ? The bunks also extend 4 feet rearward past any aluminium support ( the timber used is quite substantial ) is this normal?

Who produced the trailer ?

Two bunks for a 350SS IMO, is not adequate. I would say that you should have 4 bunks that were engineered for your hull.

The trailer was made by Magic Tilt Trailers of Fl. It is an aluminium tri axle trailer and there is a few more faults. The winching post is 3 feet short of the boat , the bunks protrude 2 feet past the transom and line up with the 2 out drives which stop the drives from being lowered when on the trailer. This is why the boat can not be pulled forward to meet the winching post because the drives will not clear the bunks. The brackets that hold the bunks have bent and splayed out because the angle cut on the bunks is not right, and the weight is not evenly distributed over the 3 axles. I emailed the company with some pretty damming photos and they have just replied that there was a few minor problems and they are sending me heavy duty bracket. Being on the other side of the world I don't think I am going to have much luck getting any major work done. Trailers in Australia are expensive and it might be cheaper to get one made in the US and ship home. Can you recommend any good trailer manufacturers for Formula boats.

They are great people who built an excellent product !!

The 350SS is a heavy boat on a trailer and you want the absolutely best trailer to support your hull while going down the road !!
