I have 2- 4 bolt blocks in good condition but need the parts to rebuilt them to the 80 's style engines I took out of my 81 twin engine 26 ft formula. Any ideas?

Are you planning to rebuild stock or tweak them a little bit? What model Formula are they going to go in? Best bet is to find you a good machine shop that is familiar with marine engines.

It is a 1981 26 ft SC - the boat is in very good conditon except it is in need of two packages. The 2 engines I have are not original but are 5.7 350's. The out drives are original. I put two new Alpha Gen 11's on and tried to drop two new 5.7 EFI's in but the new Vortex engines are two high - about 4 ". I couldn't close the hatches.

I sent the EFI's back but kept the out drives figuring I could find engines. The engines I have only have about 600 hrs. The blocks are in good shape (I think) but I need to rebuild the engines. I have been told by the boat yard in New England area that they can't find the parts to rebuild the engines. I don't quite understand but do not know where to go from here. I really like the boat.

I'd find a new boat yard. They have made millions, and millions of these SBC's. They have been building basically the same engine since 1955. You can go behind a tree and crap alll the parts you need. :)

Here's what one SBC looked like when I got it. I had no problems at all finding parts.

Cuda is right. Can't believe you were told that. It shouldn't be any problem having those engines rebuilt. You can get every thing you need for them from any decent parts house. Surprised the EFI engines wouldn't fit. I wouldn't think they would be that much higher than a carbureted engine. After rereading your post I guess they are.

The new out drives are all mounted on the transom. My concern is if I pull the boat from the yard and the rebuilt engines don't fit the Alpha Gen 11 outdrive, I am screwed!

As far as I know the engines that were originally in the boat were 898/228/260. The EFI 5.7 Vortex engine that we dropped in looked huge and was about 4 in too high!! The boat has a flush deck.

Thanks for the help.

Mating the outdrives to the engines should be no probelem. All you need is the correct coupler that bolts to the flywheel and you're in business. The splined shaft on the drives will fit into it.
