310 SS Decking

I have decided to plasDECK the swim platform and entrance to my boat, and the job although labor intensive now looks great but offers a better appeal than the standard option on a 2007 boat. The work was done by Jonathan at Underway Marine Flooring in Dunedin FL and here are some images. The test will be in June but I am promised a cool to the touch feel and great lifespan along with an ease of cleaning. Thoughts please?

Looks like very nice work. If you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay for the PlasDeck and what was the additional cost for install? How long did it take to install? Could you have done it yourself? Thanks in advance.

The whole job was $2200, finished and fitted. If you have the time and skill yes you can do it yourself but the craftsmanship required to do a good job is time consuming and tricky. Timewise somewhere close to twelve hours including measuring, cleaning before and afterwards plus some fiddly work around the ladder and edges. Air temperature is important for the adhesive and 'grouting'.

No problems on the left hand side as you pass through the entry step and gate. Likewise the swim ladder. All in all a quality job. I will post an image of the engine hatch up to show how this possible issue has been solved.

Looks great I did the same thing to mine shortly after i bought it. The install was easy and plasDeck had the templates for my boat (330SS) on file so I didn't have to template it. It's does get hot in the summer...

Looks like they did a very good job
I'm curious, why did you install it? Looks alone or were there other reasons?
Thanks

I purchased the boat in Sept, and being in Florida will be using the swim platform frequently. I do not like the look of bare white, anywhere....and think the decking looks more modern and elegant. It lifts the interior and I believe will be more comfortable underfoot. I am yet to feel how warm it gets in July or August, but remember in Florida it is humidity....very different from the heat of the west and desert lakes. It will be durable, may help the resale of the boat sometime and people are impressed, guests, clients and the ladies.

Just bought a kit from Formula TAG for my 350. Please share any lessons learned before I do my self-install this coming weekend.

The only hints I have from the chap who did mine are.....keep the area clean....work slowly...make sure everything settles and don't do everything within one day. Slowly is best and be methodical.

As I have only done the swim platform I am not so worried, but doubt it would be so popular if it got that hot. I shall report upon it when it starts getting warmer in Florida from early May until the end of Oct.

I’ve read the same thing of how hot they get in the sun, I have not noticed it getting that hot at all not more so then the deck, like Belleair302 I just did my swim platform, I have no complaints in fact I think its grate when you climb aboard from the water it saves your knees or climbing on board when wet no slipping and it just looks go, but that’s my opinion but I’m getting older and might be losing filings in my feet LOL

My boat neighbor at the marina bought a new to him boat last year that had this installed. It does gets HOT.....so much you run off the platform to get on the dock. He keeps his transom shower out and available all the time to give it a quick hose down before walking on it.

He had Seadek on his last boat and that was MUCH better regarding the heat. I put the seadek on my boat after experiencing both products.

It does look great though !! Just make sure you keep the water tank full, and the transom shower ready.

Maybe its different materials or collars or other brand? I also have seadek but it doesn’t get that hot and I’m in Florida

Anything that is left out in the sun will get hot, but I believe the lighter the colour of the material and there are many shades, the less it will absorb the heat. As a swim platform it will get wet, and I am not overly concerned about cooling it off now and then. Carpets for the cockpit next....

snapincarpet has a good reputation I also used them for my last boat, make sure you buy the one without the black backing if its left on for a long time it leaves marks (black) on deck, they have a secondary backing called premium nu-wave backing witch I used and never left a mark

In the middle of summer it will get hot but it normally gets wet when your running and when we are at the sandbar it's no big deal to hose it off with the shower... It looks too nice to not have it, I hate dirty footprints on white fiberglass.
