3 out of 4 speakers not working

I have a 1997 Formula 271 Fastech and 3 out of the 4 speakers do not work. I replaced the head unit and the two amplifiers (with a single 4 channel one) and two speakers (the cockpit ones since I tested one of them with a multimeter and it seemed faulty, i.e. showed high resistence betweeen the two terminals) which I think were the original equipment on the boat. Everything is connected up but only the one cabin speaker (LHS) works. That is the same as before I replaced anything, so I suspect that I need not have replaced the amplifiers. The head unit did not work too well anyway (would sometimes play a CD and sometimes not) so that was probably worthwhile. The strange thing is though that I have connected the RHS cabin speaker directly to the amplifier by use of some spare speaker wire and it works. In fact, to whichever speaker terminals it is connected it works. So the amplifier is receiving and sending. I have checked the connections to the RHS speaker and they look fine. Looks like there is some break in the speaker wire at least to the RH cabin speaker. But how is that possible? Is there a junction box somewhere in the system and corroded connections perhaps?

Can anyone throw any light on this?

I have only had the boat less than a year. We live in Queensland, Australia, so it is a rare boat here.

Many thanks.

I solved the problem. Behind the RH speaker in the cabin was an electrical junction which was faulty. I cleaned the connections and it now works fine. The two cockpit speakers are controlled by a rheostat (just to the right of the driver) and that was turned down to zero so nothing would come out of them. One wire was out of the rheostat so the LH cockpit speaker was not working even when the rheostat was turned up. I simply re-connected that wire into the rheostat and the LH speaker now works. Took some time to track it all down, but there is a great satisfaction in solving a problem.
