1988 Formula 242SS. Located 20 minutes north of Boston, MA. Very good condition with many upgrades. In 2004 complete drop in 496 ci fuel injected, 375 horsepower, fresh water cooled engine, and new Bravo outdrive. About 400 hours on it now. End of last year had $5,000 of maintenance professionally done including new manifolds, fuel pump, water pump (entire unit not just impeller), spark plugs, IAC motor, thermostat, water pressure regulator and sensor. New Simrad GPS plotter installed into custom dash panel. Navionics Eastern US chip installed with entire coast and all lakes. New grey Bimini top and frame last year (not in the pictures). Full customer cockpit and bow to stern mooring covers too. New last year VHF radio and stereo. All gauges, lights, and controls work. Bottom antifouling paint is in good condition. Gas tank replace in late 1990s. New 4 blade prop, life jackets, anchors, lines etc included. I have all service records since I owned and some from the previous owner.
Trailer was bought brand new November 2016 for over $4000. Its a Venture Commander 6000 which is the top of the line with many factory upgrades including all aluminum frame, better hubs, disk brakes on all four wheels, painted 5 star wheels, LED lights, and tall markers to guide you in when loading the boat. I also added a matching spare tire and carrier.
These boats still look sexy and modern and will always be a classic. 24 degree dead rise cuts through chop and gives a smooth ride. The SS is the same boat as the LS but with MUCH more room in the cockpit! Can fit 8 people comfortably. This boat gets attention and admiration every time you go out. Enclosed cuddy cabin can sleep two and has portable head.
History: I looked for this exact model for over a year. I wanted one in good condition and with a newer engine. I bought it from a 90 year old man who owned it since 1991. He used it in Connecticut and had all service done by the marina. It was moored in an ocean bay thus the bottom paint. I trailered it one mile each way to the launch for the past two years. Only took it out 6 times. I planned to keep it for a long time but we are moving inland and it would be an hour drive each way to the ocean or lake. Just don't have the time to enjoy it like I should.
